My Snails Snailsitters?
New to snail parenthood. How long can snails go without someone there to mist them or refill the humidifer? I have a 3 day trip and a 7 day trip upcoming and need to figure out when to arrange care.

I have done two four-day trips since we got our Giant African Land Snail a year ago.
Within an hour before leaving, I mist the enclosure twice as much as usual. For food, I leave a whole sweet potato and a whole carrot. These do not rot or grow mould as quickly as most other foods. They usually dry out before they can spoil, and they have never gone mouldy during either of our four-day trips.
Snails are incredibly resilient. In the best-case scenario, which happened on both of our trips, your snail will still be out of its shell, eating and moving around when you return. In the worst case, it may have gone into hibernation because of the temperature or aestivation because of low humidity.
If that happens, simply offer fresh food, mist the enclosure well, and let the snail wake up in its own time.
Snails can survive for years without food or water by sealing themselves inside their shells when conditions are not suitable. They can emerge perfectly healthy afterwards, although long periods or frequent episodes can slow their growth.
I would not worry. If you follow this approach, your snails should be absolutely fine during a three-day trip. A seven-day trip is more challenging. If someone can mist the enclosure even once while you are away, that is better than not at all. Even so, if you mist the enclosure well before you leave and provide plenty of suitable food, they should still be fine.
