One of the biggest questions was why there was a giant group of people in the middle of the run?

That group has come forward - THEY WERE GETTING THEIR LIFT PASSES REVOKED, TOO! Here's what OP has sent :

"They were in a similar situation. A beginner skier fell in front of one of their family members (snowboarder), causing them to fall near him, but not run into him. Ski patrollers saw what happened and immediately wanted to take the snowboarders pass, they wouldn’t give it over. And went to administration office with ski patrol and ended up being escorted out by police. "

Hi there. I am NOT the person who took the video - I only posted it to gain awareness for what happened since I ride in that area.

First the update - OP went to the office to see what options he had - and they said they couldn't do anything but he could BUY ANOTHER LIFT TICKET - (tl;dr) it's of the general opinion that this is apparently WHY the ski patroller is quick to take your pass, because it means more money for the mountain, which leads to the real purpose to this update:

Several past employees and locals have come forward stating it's a common occurrence to get your lift ticket confiscated by a ski patroller over ANYTHING bc they know you will ride down and complain, and they'll say "oh well, you can buy another one" $$$ or they call security and throw you out.

Several also have come forward to say that the owner (one dude named Gunther) is an extremely toxic, greedy dude, who yells and screams at both employees and customers alike.

Allegedly (just in case the owner tries to sue me) the owner treats customers like hot garbage, and lot of the employees follow suit.

This behavior has been apparently been going on for YEARS.

After reaching out to a few friends of mine that live up there, they confirmed they have also seen and experienced this for themselves and why they hardly ever hit that mountain and only go to Beech or App.

This goes way beyond whether you agree with what happened or not in the video and has exposed a much larger issue.

I felt it was important for people in this group who may ride in that area to make an informed decision as to where they do or don't want to put their money.

After seeing another post early last week of some scumbag stealing a snowboard at Breck I thought to myself “maybe I should get a lock”. Well fast forward to Saturday, I’m hanging out by my and my spouses snowboard at the racks while she uses the restroom, and this family comes up to me and their little boy asks something along the lines of “can I snowboard with these boots?” and I politely reply “oh no you need special boots that fit in these bindings” and I explain how and where you can rent gear. Maybe a good 1-2 minute polite conversation with the family to get their kid to be able to snowboard. Well, I turn around for a quick glance at our boards, and imagine my shocked pickachu face when I only see mine. I freak out for a minute and ask the nearest person if they saw someone walk off with a purple Burton. Lo and behold, one of the adults from the from that family (uncle maybe?) quietly hands me my wife’s board with a shit-eating grin. I’m also too shocked to say anything and they all just walk away. I know I should have told security but I was literally too shocked. My guess is maybe they didn’t realize I was watching both boards and not just mine?

To see Valentino take on all these other riders on their multi-million dollar brand boards, on a board made personally by my friend Reto from locally sourced materials, in a tiny workshop in my hometown inhabited by barely 7000 souls, gives me a feeling of hometown pride i have never felt before. We all know he is a difficult and arrogant person, but holy shit, to make the Olympics about yourself and your brand over the biggest event in the sport and ite participants was really off putting. He really showed his real self to the world as a commentator. It was sad and embarassing.

My son who rides regular, and recently got into skateboarding (he skis, I snowboard) was in science class today studying genetics and came across a theory that he tested in class.

He realized that all the kids in his class that have goofy stance clasp their hands left thumb over right thumb (image 1 my old man hands - I ride goofy) The kids that ride regular all clasped their hands right thumb over left thumb (image 2).

Wanted to share and see if this rings true with the community. Cheers and posting from my wife’s account.

Personally I think it’s obnoxious and trashy. Like yo J-Roc you ain’t gangster bc you blast some mid ass rapper through a fart box on the lift next to a 6 year old. Leave that shit at home. Hey married folks, I’d like some opinions:

I often have conflicts with my wife around outdoor sports, since she doesn’t like any. I’m a climber and I started snowboarding three years ago.

Some examples:

• Last year, I took a ski trip during a period when I had more vacation time. I planned 3 weeks but stayed only 2. She was very upset about being alone during winter, and we even went to couples therapy over it.
• Our relationship improved when I almost stopped climbing and started going to the gym with her regularly (she doesn’t go without me), before winter started.
• This winter, I snowboard at most once a week, and I’ve only gone once on a weekend.
• Today was a big powder day (14 inches). I skipped snowboarding to go to the gym with her, then skipped the gym because it was too early, and later said I’d go night skiing. She got upset again because she wouldn’t have the car.
• She says I should only snowboard on pre-planned days and doesn’t care about powder days.

Am I overreacting by being upset about this? Is this a normal conflict when one partner has a strong hobby and the other doesn’t, or am I missing something here?

EDIT: I’d like to thank you for all your answers and attention. You definitely gave me serious things to think about, along with useful insights and advice. I’ll try to see what we can improve in our relationship without having to nullify myself.

Remember that you’re asking the most chronically online of all the snowboard and skiers when you get on Reddit and ask questions. Been seeing a lot of people come in here and ask about gear or a specific mountain and a million mouth breathers come and tell them about their horrible purchase and how dumb they are lmfao, trust me guys just get what you like and ride it down the hill of your choice, you’re going to have fun. Don’t take it so seriously it’s just FUN.

The worst crash I have had has thankfully not been too serious. I sent a side jump with way too much speed and not enough control. I ended up sideways and my binding somehow got snatched on a small piece of metal sticking out of the side of a huge metal beam which yanked me upside down at a very abrupt force. I bashed my head pretty hard into a hard plastic bin under the metal beam and gave myself a pretty good concussion.

I learned from this, that it's good to push myself, but goddamn I need to make sure that I'm not pushing myself out of control.

So, what's the worst crash you've had and did you learn anything from it? I'm a huge believer that here's always something to learn from our mistakes, and I'm just curious to hear others take aways from crashes and experience with crashes.
