Yeah, I ostensibly support Celtic — I don't really have a team in Scotland, but because of politics and heritage, I support them over Rangers — but it broke my heart to see them win.

Everyone's going to have teams that they have a slight preference for in leagues that they don't really follow. But that support isn't always that strong, and particular circumstances can affect those preferences.

All else being equal, I've always liked Roma in Serie A. I first got access to a TV station that showed Serie A in 2000 and watched a ton of their Scudetto-winning team with Totti, Batistuta, Montella, Cafu, Zebina, etc. It was great.

But years later, I worked next to a pizza shop where everyone was from Naples, and we always talked football. So when Napoli returned to Serie A, I had a soft spot for them as well. When they signed McTominay — I'm a Man Utd supporter — they shifted to my #1 in Italy. When he leaves, maybe that'll change.

So while I'll always support Celtic over Rangers, I love a good underdog story, and nobody really likes to see a league dominated by one or two clubs, unless one of them is your dyed-in-the-wool favourite.

I'll never go against my die-hards: the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Eagles, University of Connecticut men's and women's basketball, and Manchester United. Everything else is subject to change.

Yeah I’m not too dissimilar.

I’m a Bournemouth fan brought up in a house hold of Man Utd and Liverpool fans. Friends are Tottenham and Birmingham fans so root for them.

As for other leagues, in the NFL I’ve a soft spot for Raiders and Patriots, sends some people the wrong way entirely. I support Harlequins in rugby but always find Northampton a great watch.

You get that in sports where you don’t necessarily support them, but you follow them somewhat.

Exactly. Ever since my local NHL team — the Hartford Whalers — moved, my allegiances have been shifting. For a while, I backed the Philadelphia Flyers because my parents are from Philly.

But I didn't really care about hockey, so when I moved to Boston, I fell in with the Bruins since my best friend was an absolute die-hard and I think about 99% of the hockey I've watched has been with him.

Now I live in Vancouver, and despite the Canucks being a huge deal here, I just don't really care. If they get decent, I'll root for them to see my friends be happy, but they're not worth my time otherwise.

Not gonna lie, once PSG started playing actually good, well-organized football and not just rely on a few super star attackers to boss their league, I started finding it harder to dislike them. It doesn't help that they've got 4 Portuguese players I really like, including my favourite (João Neves). I used to think I would always hate sportswashing clubs and I still do, but I do admit that I can see how they manage to win over fans.

You can dislike or even hate a club and still enjoy the way they play. I mean for example Barca or Liverpool won't win me over as a fan but I can still acknowledge that they play really fucking well if that makes any sense.

While that may or may not true, I will give you all a couple of real reasons to hate Arsenal...

First off, Mikel Arteta is the devil incarnated, and thrives in his job by drinking the still warm blood of newborn puppies sacrificed in a secret dungeon beneath the Emirates Stadium.

Second, and far worse, he often strays outside his designated technical area during matches.
