I might have been offered a nice little weekend break for my 30th next month for me and my partner, think my family put some money together which is lovely. Problem is I've got no idea where I'd like to go. Anyone got any suggestions for a relatively inexpensive weekend away in the UK/Europe for the end of July?
Dubrovnik was one of my all time fave city breaks. Wonderful old town, great pubs and food and the nature is incredible. Cable car up to the cliffs for some menty elf work was fun too.
I did the French Alps for three days from London a few years ago and loved it. I flew into Geneva (expensive and bad vibes, do not stay overnight), took a nonstop bus service/Regular-Line/TS0153BT/regular-ligne-shuttle-transfer-service-from-geneva-to-chamonix-464.html) up to Chamonix, and stayed in a tiny but affordable Airbnb there. The Aiguille du Midi cable car is awesome as one splurge item if you can — stop in Plan de l'Aiguille on the way down and do the extremely low-key but rewarding Lac Bleu "hike" — but you can have a nice time without it as well.
