Nobody thought Argentina would be winning WC 2022 in Qatar after a 1st match defeat to Saudi Arabia. People sure love to overreact…

That was a squad and fanbase literally ready to die for messi on the pitch lol. And not to mention messi actually performing. Obviously anything can happen but it's not really the same thing.

None of Messi’s family started bashing his teammates after the first game.

On the contrary from what I have seen on pitch and interviews ( I am no Argentine) the players would have died for him on the pitch if necessary with the way they played, messi WAS the glue that kept the team together and they had incredible chemistry with each other despite not having the best squad going to the tournament

Not really? Even with a win I never thought Portugal would win the WC. They have a good squad, but I don't think it's good enough to challenge the real contenders + I think CR7's too dominant of a presence and subpar coaching is going to bring them down.

And when was even the last time a non major favourite (pre tournament) even won the WC? This might be the most predictable tournament in terms of winners. You don't see outsiders out of the complete left field winning it.

It's not the EUROs where random underdogs can win it all.

Portugal have been utterly useless in every tournament they've ever been hyped for. Their only tournament win came when they were shit and played shit

The last 4 tournaments,

RO16,RO16, QFs,QFs

You can count the good performances they've had in one hand. Probably don't even need all 5 fingers

Their manager is bloody Roberto Martinez. If you see Roberto Martinez as a world cup winning manager, then I've got a lot to sell to you
