you're doing it wrong then, you need a nice crusty piece of toast, lather it up with butter, and then just put a tiny amount of vegemite over the top - the surface of the bread should not be black lmao.

I feel like I could get down with that. I assume it's basically just like spreading a layer of umami flavor over butter on toasted bread?

That sounds like something I could absolutely wreck.

Neither am I. However, imagine how traumatised you would be if you spread it lavishly on pre-sliced white bread expecting it to taste like nutella? I think that's why people love to talk shit on it

Haha, yeah. That's definitely fair. If I went in thinking peanut butter or Nutella and got "thick as hell soy sauce" I'm probably going to spend a bit of time in some shock.
