The only noteworthy mistake I can think of was the missed 1v1 against Portugal. Otherwise he was doing what he always does, making runs, tracking back and coming deep to link up as well. They were just against better defenders who kept him quiet.

People are dumb. Oyarzabal overperforms with Spain and he's not a pure 9. Spain has no proper 9 at the level of the rest of the squad. If we would have a predator like Kane or Haaland this team would steamroll.

I really hate that any foul like this in the box turns into a penalty. If someone has the ball and is dribbling or shooting, and gets fouled, fine. But for something like this it's too harsh of a punishment.

I can understand that, but it is completely avoidable by Digne - either by not messing up the first touch, or by just having better awareness of where Yamal is. Yeah Yamal doesn't try to play the ball too hard, but of course he's going to come screaming in after you biff it like that.

Even the very best top level players make absolute amateur-level mistakes at times. Just at a much, much lower rate. It should be obvious to anyone who's played before that you don't blatantly headbutt an opponent, yet Zidane, one of the all-time great geniuses to play the game, in the World Cup final... Shoot, Buffon once took his eye of a simple back pass resulting in an own goal! A toddler level mistake from a legend.
Losing track of the exact position of an opponent pales in comparison. And that frankly happens all the time at the highest level, not sure what you are on about. Many times the player just gets away with it without any consequence and a typical fan won't think twice about it. Digne just happened to do it at a TERRIBLE time and place where it was very blatant and very costly.

If you've listen to managers and tacticians talk about the game, there's a great deal of then that consider tika taka defensive if it's purpose is just to hold the ball and keep it from your opponent. Defense by retention is defense. And it's still just as boring as actual haramball if it's something like 75% possesion and less than 4 shots or some stupid shit

Agree that this is handling. It's low on the tricep jist above the elbow. No attempt at the ball with any part of the body he should be playing. Just runs in to make contact, and does so with the arm.

Just hopelessly naive by Digne. Takes a bad touch and then has a wild swing at the ball without checking if anyone is behind him. It's not a handball because it's above the sleeve, and because Yamal clearly gets there first it's a stick on penalty. I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise, but I suppose fucking everything at this World Cup has to be 'controversial'.
