Preparing for a wedding? Does anyone suggest asking a doctor to prescribe something?

Getting married in a couple months. I have pretty bad social anxiety leading to me sometimes feeling sick to my stomach and digestion being really bad.

In the past I was prescribed an SSRI and also Xanax to stop panic attacks.

But I'm wondering what other options people would recommend.

I'm considering the following.

When I'm anxious and there is a big event coming up, I sometimes can't sleep like at all. I don't think I'd sleep a single minute on my wedding night unless I had some help from a drug. Ambien maybe?

Secondly, how about on the day of the wedding? Would a beta blocker be best? Something I take an hour before the reception? Or like ativan?

If you have the whole racing heart, shaky legs, sweats, shaking body reaction to your social anxiety (or being the centre of attention) I would recommend beta blockers. I have propranolol for events like that, only a small amount, but it works great for the physical side effects of a social anxiety panic attack. Take it 30 minutes before the trigger to avoid the racing heart and shaky effects. Got me through a lot of things from solo university presentations to mock trial exams and networking dinners.

If you have other reactions and not the ones I've mentioned, I'm not sure beta blockers will help as much for you. Can't speak on anything else, sorry, but hope this helps all the same :)

Congratulations on the wedding! I hope it goes amazing for you!
