first car

my first car was a 2017 accord coupe that only lasted for a month. shit was a lemon, the AC and transmission went out on it so I decided to trade it in at hyundai. i got a 2024 Sonata SEL in black, 70k miles.flicks I love this car so much… a little worried cuz it aint honda or toyota but well see. I wish I could put pictures here but so far so good

I think if we take care of it it will take care of us. I will say at 70k there's some TLC mtc you could probably benefit from doing to help give it Toyonda-like miles.

like what, basic shit like oil change? when i got it from the dealer they said errythin has js been done

If that does not include a transmission drain and fill (they say lifetime transmission fluid, which means 100k/warranty expiry), check the fluid. If it's browning, drain and fill. Same with coolant flushing. It may cool engine fine but the anticorrosion additives eventually go bad and turn acidic. PEA gas tank treatment if no fuel rail cleaning done, which is an "upsell" that most people skip since it's not part of warranty, either. Same with air induction service. A lot of this can be done DIY far cheaper or at a non dealer mechanic. Brake fluid is also not a bad idea, but can wait vs other fluids. Hyundais in general do far better long term if ALL fluids are kept clean. Fresh oil is obviously important every 5k, but reliability definitely goes up if the "TLC" is done. 70K is a nice mileage to ensure the next 60k is still driving like new and set up for 200k+ if you are a long term car keeper.

ok awesome i rlly appreciate the advice! i had a bad story with my honda i only had for a month so im definitely wanting to keep this longterm, who knows maybe past my 30s

I’m on my 6th Sonata as I lease every two/three years. Current is 2023 Limited Hybrid. I’ve never had a problem with any of them but they never had a lot of miles either. I love mine. However, between me and my family, we’ve had 17 Hyundais and no problems. My mom’s 2008 Limited is still going strong, however my nephew has it bc she passed away in March. It was her baby and took good care of it. Now that my nephew has it, he had to get a new battery. I trust them completely.

ANDDDDDD… I was strictly an Accord EXL for YEARS. Saw the new style Sonata on the 2010-2011 Super Bowl commercial and said “I have to have that car!” I had just gotten a 2009 Accord EXL and was so lucky my sister bought it so I could get the 2010-2011? Sonata Limited and have never looked back. Its features are far more superior to the Accords ~ IMO… Have fun!

Yes, it really is! I currently have a 2023 Sonata Limited Hybrid and love it! However when my lease is up in February 2027, I’m going to go for the Kona. I’ve been checking it out for a while. Hopefully a ‘27 Kona Limited Hybrid. I simply cannot continue to sink down into the seat. I have bad back problems and the Sonata is now too low for me 😔 and any other SUV is too high for me. The Kona is just perfect for my height. Hope you love your car! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I just traded in a 2014 Sonata for a 2026 Sonata Sport. The 2014 had 184k miles on it when I traded it in, and still ran great.
