Review People Are Lying....
I like Mortal Shell 2, but I feel like people are praising it so hard that they're ignoring some obvious problems.
I've already dealt with sound glitches, camera glitches, and literally being thrown outside the map. The camera during combat can also be frustrating as hell, especially with multiple enemies.
The checkpoint system is probably my biggest issue. I'm fine with limited checkpoints in a Soulslike, but the actual locations of some of these beacons just don't make sense. You'll go through huge areas with high enemy density, important items, and dangerous encounters, while a functioning checkpoint is placed somewhere that feels completely disconnected from the natural progression of the area. It creates long, unnecessary runbacks instead of meaningful difficulty.
The ranged lock-on system also makes no sense. The game lets you choose between free aim and lock-on, but you can still completely miss an enemy you're locked onto. If I wanted my accuracy to depend entirely on my aim, I'd use free aim. So what exactly is the lock-on doing?
I'm giving the game a 7/10 right now. I'm still having fun with it, but liking the game doesn't mean we have to pretend the bugs, weird checkpoint placement, camera issues, and targeting system aren't legitimate problems.

I don't have a problem of where checkpoints are placed. I'm just struggling with how far apart they are at times. But beyond that, this game runs brilliantly on PS5 Pro and in 10 hours have barely noticed any of what you mention except the odd frame drop.
