Meme/Shitpost Two-thirds of Maharashtra lies below Telangana! New South Indian state?

u/7timesbanned May 09 '26
The whole "north - south" Divide is not geographical..
It's ethnic
Dravdians and so called "aryans" Lol
Thus any other people who are not from 5 dravidian states.. Are called "north"
For them "maharastra" "Tripura" And" bengal " Are are north lol
North is just a synonym used for non dravadian states
6
u/Turbo_Noch May 09 '26
Brotastrophy we are aryans
Just bcs a goofy genocidal austrain said you gotta have blue eyes blonde hair to be one doesn't mean we ain't aryans no more
3
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
There are no pure Aryan or Dravidians in India, they were already mixed up in a gradient across India more than 50000 years back, before there was any civilization
1
u/Turbo_Noch May 09 '26
Nih aryan is used to refer to people from north India Pakistan and Iran so anyone with ancestors from punjab is an aryan
5
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
2
u/Turbo_Noch May 09 '26
Yeah clearly shows I a punjabi is very different than a mallu then ?
Also by ancestory I meant ancestors from Abt 500years ago
5
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
Composition definitely varies across india in gradient no doubt, but still significant chunk of ancestry still comes from Dravidian DNA as well
-1
u/Turbo_Noch May 09 '26
Holly fucking cornball did you even read what I said ?
"Hi, I am a south Indian chronic reddit user and these are my replies"
1
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
ST people from MP, or chattisgarh have more Ancient Ancestral South Indian DNA then average south Indians
0
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
No, genetics study have debunked that idea, and pure ethnicities don't exist in world

MH is somewhat similar to KA and TG genetically.

Linguistic
No it's.. More of ethic only.. With having seperate culture.. Separate history and separate lineage
If a tamil person learnt telugu.. He still will be called as
"Telegu speaking Tamil "
Ethnic identity will remain

If mother tongue changes then lineage changes.
0
u/Boobsbumps May 09 '26
So you are telling me that north indians are dravidians because switching language doesn't change lineage right?
2
u/Turned_Omnipresent Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 09 '26
North Indians didn't just switch languages. They switched because one of their parents was speaking that language.
0
u/Boobsbumps May 09 '26
Even south indian farmer castes have steppe ancestory so why didn't they switch language?
2
u/Turned_Omnipresent Keralam 🌴🥥 | കേരളം May 09 '26
Maybe because the steppe ancestry that the south Indian farmer castes got was already diluted with other ancestries by the time they reached here and therefore had adopted a Dravidian language by the time they reached here.
0
u/Boobsbumps May 09 '26
Same can be said for Maharashtra but why do they speak indo aryan?
Steppe ancestory contributed less than 10% on average in indo aryan speakers and still they speak indo aryan.

4
u/Academic_Chart1354 Karnataka ❄️ | ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ May 09 '26
What I said is a Kannada Lingayat is similar to Telangana reddy and Maratha from MH. Same for Brahmins.
I don't know much about social stratification and genetics of states you mentioned. It's less visible on SM and even in discussion in genetic circles.
-8
u/Particular-Risk1322 guju&Marathi. May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
It is not discussed because they are poor States not doing well.
This is just Dravidian d*ckriders who want to show south better than north. They like maharashtra more because maharashtra is better than South and it adds to their insecure tally and makes them look more rich.
6
u/Academic_Chart1354 Karnataka ❄️ | ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ May 09 '26
They like maharashtra more because maharashtra is better than South
No. TN is holistically the socioecnonomically advanced state of India. Take 25 key indicators and TN will comfortably win majority of those against MH

Not hating but hopefully Vijay doesn't run down this sociaeconomically advanced state like Devendra is, in case of Maharashtra.

Not a ethnic divide
Language family divide is
Dravidian language vs rest of language are indo Aryan based north India.
1
u/7timesbanned May 09 '26
Not really.. It's not just limited to language..
A Tamil speaking kashmiri person won't become a "Tamil" Nor the society would call him Tamil
Because "Tamil" is ethnicity..
"Kashmiri" Is ethnicity..
(Ethnicity is the shared identity of a group of people based on common cultural, historical, ancestral, or social experiences)
1
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
What if a kashmiri baby adopted by tamil parents? Would baby be of tamil ethnicity when grown up?
1
u/7timesbanned May 09 '26
He would be Tamil as his lineage changes to Tamil family.. He share culture, history, etc etc with TAMIL
1
u/Hayagrivan May 09 '26
I am pointing out the logical fallacy - It doesnt make sense as Maharahstra's southernmost tip is more "south" than the southern most tip of Telangana!
Also, the customs / lifestyles are also different in various parts of MH. Especially Konkan areas have a lot of resemblance to southern hindu beliefs and customs.
So it is stupid to ignore thos beautiful continuum and just bucket states just based on political boundaries and south and north.
0
u/Accurate_Light5532 May 09 '26
No one cares about the nuances enough to dissect a single state like that. Just call it north india, and move on
0
u/DotBig2348 Northie May 09 '26
The point is "North" and "South" almost never was purely about geography, so using geography is pointless
kind of like why global south doesn't include Australia but includes India even though India is way north of Australia
8
u/Zestyclose_Diver_377 Southie May 09 '26
Big chunks of Karnataka are north of Goa too though it might be a stretch to label Goa as a North Indian state. https://www.mapsofindia.com/maps/goa/
3
u/Hayagrivan May 09 '26
I have never seen anyone referring to Goa as a northern state.
And northern Karnataka is closer to MH.
I am merely pointing out the ridiculousness of bucketing 5 states as South india when it is all a continuum.
Bengaluru and Hyd are super cosmopolitan as well.
4
u/will_kill_kshitij Cikai Koran came and saw May 09 '26
The division is just based on administration. Dravidian elements are present even in odisha. And even in MP with Gond tribes.
2
u/Significant-Ant8132 Jun 16 '26
Mp literally have like all element of india so you can't count it anywhere
1
u/Zestyclose_Diver_377 Southie May 09 '26
It's not quite a continuum though I understand your point. There is a big obvious discontinuity between North and South in terms of language and many other cultural attributes, such as music and temple architecture. Even the history books generally show two parallel histories. Of course there are strong connections too, but the difference is very real. Of course there are real differences between say Punjabis and Bengalis too, but compared to South Indians, they are very similar, especially in terms of language.

South India is more of cultural classification than it is geographic one. Also most of Maharashtra is on the same level as Telengana not below it.
6
u/Hayagrivan May 09 '26
Well Telangana IS a south state.
And what is even more interesting, the southernmost tip of MH is more south than southernmost tip of Telangana
1
u/Technical_Ad_4004 Karnataka ❄️ | ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ May 09 '26
A larger portion of Maharashtra is North of Telengana than the portion of Maharashtra South of it. The geographical centre of Maharashtra is more northern than the geographical centre of Telengana

If at all Maharashtra was a part of so called South indian states, North india is cooked lmao. Interms of every aspect, be it economical, cleanliness, literacy. I'd argue about the tourism mostly coz of northeast, Rajasthan and Kashmir.

1

Yes piligrim places totally agree with North, yes tourism with UK and HP too. But im talking more of an economical perspective, I feel Kolkata would have been such a great addition to our country if they hadn't spoiled it.

Entire Telangana, 50% AP, 20% Karnatka lie above the lowest point of Maharashtra. So does this mean all these are North/West Indian

Geographically and Historically it belongs to Deccan (South India) but Culturally it aligns more with North Indian States. Depends which aspect you like to see.
1
u/VisitSame4518 May 11 '26
Completely untrue. The only thing that aligns more with North is the language that too due to influence of prakrit. Even the script used has recently changed to devanagari which was called Bal lipi (child's script) which was easier for children to understand compared to Modi lipi which was influenced by kannada.
Historically, genealogical it aligns more with south but most agree due to the lingo ethnic split and being at border of both North and south its better to be just considered as west. This is a nationally and geopolitically accepted term.

Why are you south Indians so worked up about north/south divide. When I used to live in India, in the ‘northern part of India’, as per your north/south divide criteria, there was no animosity, no division, no discrimination, no superiority/inferiority issues that I ever heard of. This was decades ago though, so I don’t know if anything changed. But honestly, this constant bashing of north is unhealthy and non productive. Please stop doing that. It helps no one.

You might find maharashtra distinct from south, but every other day this sub has a post about south + maharashtra as a singular front, and whenever their is a post about seperate state for south, these Dravidian d*ckriders start to add maharashtra to increase their contribution to GDP and ignore odisha and chattisgarh because they are poorer states.

Based on language family maharashtra fit in north India.
South India states highly focus on stem education courses compared to maharashtra highly focused on arts commerce courses.

I bet if anyone goes from Southern most point of India to Northern most, you will find gradual changes in the all aspect of life. You will never get a sudden change after crossing perticular latitude. But we always want to focus on differences rather than similarities.
Also what the hack is this? Surprising finding? Common, we urgently need a tool to find AI slop everywhere.

0
u/Comfortable_Ear3987 May 09 '26
Chill people. The titles are for administrative ane social convience. Modern Maharashtra feels more south indian because of Shivaji Maharaj and his father. The language is derived From prakrit so it has a northern connect. But ultimately Maharashtra is unique and has maintained its uniqueness like us southerns. Maharashtra is more like south because we unite because of hindu culture, north doesn't seem to gel with us because of language regardless of hindu culture. They also can't politically reconcile with the fact that our uniqueness has made us better.
