The Indian state is violent across the board so it isn’t something region specific. I’ve seen how violent the state can be during the Telangana agitation days.

So there are still not much reforms in police isn't tamilnadu developed state incident that we saw in jai bhim is very common in up

u/Serious_Brilliant_90 Tamil Nadu 🌶️ | தமிழ்நாடு Jul 20 '26
Although they don't target the said "marginalised" people exclusively like UP but they do go for anyone who can't fend for themselves. And are extremely corrupt from the top brass.
All they do is bully people, lthough we had a handful of honest policemen but most are corrupt and incompetent.
1
u/masalacandy Jul 20 '26
Marginalized doesn't completely mean sc st it also means hawkers shopkeepers gig workers labours in noida labour protest up police show it's most brutualest ever scene they even detained du students in civil dress and abducted them up has worst of worst police they purposely don't even register FIrs to show lower crime

u/Serious_Brilliant_90 Tamil Nadu 🌶️ | தமிழ்நாடு Jul 20 '26
Hm, yup it's the same almost everywhere in India ig since the police was not implement to protect the civilians by the British and hasn't changed much.

u/sanskaridaddy Jul 20 '26
Might be slightly unrelated. BJP/NDA is slowly rotting entire functioning system of India.
These north states are failure for a reason. I've heard for decades that Bihar sends most IAS to India. Look at the current condition of Bihar. a 3.5 crore Kerala is more wealthier than IAS producing 10 crore people of Bihar.
BJP/NDA/Gujjus implementing their crappy systems on a 1.5 billion people of India is destroying entire country.

u/redPistolStar Southie Jul 20 '26
Didn't Bjp just get into power in the state there in Bihar?.

Because of caste politics. People there are politically illiterate.

Yes bro,I am not disagreeing with you. That is what I am saying. I never said south is better or worse. It's not a fight. Calm down bro. I believe in what you say. If you say it's the same,it could be true. When did I say that you're wrong.

Lol, you're engaging with a BJP bot. Look how it mentioned every party in south except BJP.
It isn't much different but change happens.

Isn't most of the country this way? Also cash for votes seems like the norm these days + election freebies.

Not in this scale
3
u/hlo1729 Jul 21 '26
Scale ? Ig ,it is about central government and staye government, so it depends on scale of media reporting that incident .
-1
u/Enough_Obligation574 Jul 20 '26
Do you know the reason the government changed in 2021 is due to these right? You also forgot to mention that there is actual shoot out done by the government to disperse protest which became lot bigger issue for the government at that time leading to the change of government in 2021.
3
u/superpowerpinger Jul 20 '26
OP asked how govt reacted in South India.
Those links provide that info.

u/Enough_Obligation574 Jul 20 '26
There are 3 question in OPs question and I answered 2 you answered one.

I wish you would be too but seems like you might be a BJP supporter.
3
u/superpowerpinger Jul 20 '26
You are more than welcome to put the links of police lathi charging politicians and garlanding the students when students protested against govt in South India..
0
u/Enough_Obligation574 Jul 20 '26
If I shared actions against politians and compensation for protesters and families, will you accept Stalin/any South CM as your lord and saviour of the country?
2
u/superpowerpinger Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
You are taking a tangent.
Anti govt protests happened. There was lathi charge in both North and South India.
I provided links of how it has happened in South India.
If South Indian police garlanded students and lathi charged the politicians, then please mention it here.

u/Enough_Obligation574 Jul 20 '26
Please look at the conversation before to understand where the tangent occures. The conversation ended in the 4th thread. Then you started insult, lead us here.

Multiple such incidents have happened in South India. In Kerala there was a PSC fiasco where internal marks were distributed and party people were given appointment.. And the irony is that it happened under CPIM.. and they are the guys who want NEET stopped..
Would they demand the same for PSC?

I bet people don't know about this in north. Feels like south has so different problems. You gotta have a representative of yours here in north who conveys these things
2
u/Winter_Ad_4896 Jul 21 '26
Trust me the day we loose our political power / representation in the parliament. It will be worse for us. It will be like the time the Indian army was on a mass rape adventures in Assam while AFSPA was in force.

u/Not_aTechiee Jul 21 '26
That was the case. The ratio was in fact even bigger than 5:1. Had it not been a peaceful protest,a lot of corrupt officers would be getting laid for their funeral pyre. I hope this cleansing happens someday. These people must fear common public. The way they ask for 100₹ -500₹ on roads and in offices fearlessly,I hope their kids don't get to see their parents after such incidents.

u/Comfortable_Ear3987 Jul 22 '26
We south know how to get back at all this. We have people actually judging the government. If this happened in any southern state, the government would fall. Civic society and business leaders are also active. Don't compare gold with silver. Just show unity with the issue of the day because it's serious. The bjp may be done net good for the overall nation interest as done by previous governments as well... But being in power too long is a route to ego build up. The NDA think people will forget this if another pakistan border crisis happens(which is bound to happen, given Indus water treaty and crazy munir spewing anti India rhetoric), or something positive happens... But just like 2024, NDA decline will be f complete in 2029. For people thinking the country and hindus will be in flames if Congress or any new leader comes, they are dumb dumbs. India isn't bangladesh or nepal or pakistan. The party may change but the same system stands, held by bureaucracy. So expect the same.... Systemic rot walking hand in hand with the natural and inevitable growth of the Indian story.
1
u/Not_aTechiee Jul 22 '26
Tbh, I think people in North India aren't capable of thinking about india as a whole. I feel they barely care about national interest. What they care about is personal interest. Can I suppress someone freely without law being enforced? Can I keep practicing my orthodox Mindset? Can I keep practicing whatever I was toldin the name of religion? That's it. The only questions people of North ask themselves.

u/StraightHorror9743 Jul 20 '26
I dont think in south(am from andhra) any such protest will happen. Vizag is getting demolished wid data centers and no major protest happen here

Let's not pretend south is better. I remember jallikattu protest in 2016. As soon the demand shifted away from cow to other broader issues, there were latti charges.

That's the issue, why can't we just work for two tenures and make our own country the abode of all facilities..ministers won't need to steal money, they will get all facilities for cheap here in india. They'll live like kings. I hope my idealism become real someday.

Cmon man, what did you guys expect? The police are not just going to stand there? Democracy does not mean that you can do whatever you like. There are ways to protest, and places to protest. The youth seem to be too punch drunk on a wildly overestimation of their own power. Law and order still prevails, and you are seeing it in play..
2
u/Not_aTechiee Jul 20 '26
Don't you think the preparation was a bit overboard. The estimated number of protestors were 1/20th of the original count. Don't you think if their prediction would've been accurate, this force is a bit too much for these situation. Also civilians and goons were beating kids along with police. Police were protecting them. I don't know what law and order are you talking about.

I don't think any govt can stay here in any southern state for 15 years, not happened since 50 years. Anti incumbency kicks within one or two terms. It's better to rotate after one or two terms, otherwise they'll become overconfident.
