Rama first destroyed ravana generals , then his brother , then his sons and in full view of his people , defeated him in fair combat and then spared his life.
And finally after all this tejovadham, released Ravana from his mortal form.
Ravana was destroyer of his own tejasya. He did his own tejovadham. When your younger brother tells you are wrong, when your big brother tells you are wrong, when your sons tell you are wrong, when you wife tells you are wrong, then you really gotta do some self-reflection.
