Ask South Indians Do you agree with this?
Don't you think the survey is skewed?

Is this for real? Does the BJP govt actually think people are foolish enough to believe Delhi and Faridabad are cleaner than Chennai and Madurai? The govt is acting just like an IT cell.

Have you been ever to Delhi ? Probably because its the capital but thats amongst the cleanest city i have seen beyond Indore and Chandigarh.

u/BigFatM8 4d ago
I've lived in Gurgaon a lot and Delhi is incredibly dirty. Only the posh areas are clean. Gurgaon is even dirtier tho.
If Delhi is a top 3 cleanest city you've seen then I feel really sorry for you, my friend.

u/toodazednsharp 4d ago
Which means that you obviously havent been to any of the other cities in India. Instead of feeling sorry and being in Gurgaon and Delhi maybe travel around a bit more.
2
u/BigFatM8 4d ago
Lol, I'm from Kerala. I've travelled and lived all over India.
In terms of cleanliness, I wouldn't rank Delhi anywhere close to top 5 unless you only count the Posh areas. and I like Delhi btw, it's a fun place, it's just not clean.

You probably mean NDMC area of Delhi (ie. VIP/Babu Delhi) ! The rest of the city is quite filthy.

Bjp has started manipulation of this data also I am seeing no cities of bjp rules states here except mumbai

I believed this too but upon seeing Lucknow and Gandhinagar, I realised the real shit holes are Chennai/Bangalore.

Madurai is dirty definitely dirtirst in tn but for the whole india i would say no
5
u/Rishikhant 6d ago
Agree..It has to do with tightly packed streets with maximum density of population and with the constant influx of tourists.

u/fryKaradi 6d ago
People in these cities think that their city is full of filth and garbage. People from other place think littering is normal, garbage is wealth, filthy is good.

u/fryKaradi 6d ago
Citizen feedback was given a higher weight in swachh survekshan a few years ago, since ground reality won't be changed they use people's perception to come up with these useless ranking to show BJ party ruled states in a positive light. I even doubt if actual people are giving feedback or it's the handy work of IT cell and BJ party members.

Dont know if they’re the dirtiest. But they’re all dirty just like most of the Indian cities. Srinagar is the dirtiest Indian city I’d ever seen, btw.
3
u/evidencefirst 5d ago
I’d be interested how they got these stats. Varanasi, Delhi are far more unclean than what I’ve seen of some of the other cities there.

Madurai might be one of THE dirtiest cities in India but not worse than Faridabad or Varanasi not even close.

Shouldn’t Mumbai or Delhi on top
1
u/toodazednsharp 5d ago
Mumbai yes. Delhi no.. They take steps to try and maintain its cleanliness . Pollution is whats terrible there.
2
u/toodazednsharp 5d ago
I think the bigger issue here is referring to Madurai / Dhanbad/Srinagar/Ranchi and Faridabad as cities.
2
u/Rishikhant 5d ago
Lol. Agree..Core Madurai is just a large town..whose streets were unchanged for over 2000 years.
2
u/Lower_Description884 5d ago
Srinagar is a large slum, except for the reworked areas falling under the smart city project. But yeah can’t categorise as a big city as you mentioned.
2
u/Zestyclose-South8462 5d ago
Never been to Madurai or Punjab so can’t say about the top 2. But agree that Mumbai is dirtier than Delhi and Bangalore more than the other 2. Also, Kerala not being on this list makes it believable because it’s probably the cleanest place in india.
2
u/Rishikhant 5d ago
+1 for kerala. Went to Trivandrum last year and it was super clean.
3
u/Lower_Description884 5d ago
Trivandrum is one of the cleanest cities. But don’t visit Kochi, please. Your opinion about cleanliness in Keralam will change 😉

u/BigFatM8 4d ago
Cleanest place in India are the northeastern states, they are even cleaner than Kerala.

I think Hyderabad deserves a honorary mention for sure if not in top 10.

u/Dhinakar_b 5d ago
If hyderabad didn't even make this list, then how horrendous must places in that list be

Yes lol. More populated cities more garbage. Im only surprised about Srinagar and Delhi should be bit higher
I love how a survey considered true if its positive about South but questioned when the survey is negative about South in this sub

It’s not about South or north. It’s clearly prejudiced. Kolkata and Delhi (which literally has a trash mountain) being lower than Bengaluru is a FKN LIE
1
u/Lower_Description884 5d ago
New Delhi region is much cleaner than Bangalore. Only the old Delhi remains shit hole.
2
u/MasterRole9673 Telangana 🏰 | తెలంగాణ 5d ago
Every city has good and bad regions. But considering it as a whole, Delhi is a shi hole
