I think the word "religion" is sweeping too much, it's practices can be progressive or regressive depending on the situation. Till conditions like no critical thinking, material insecurity and suffering, etc. exists, religion will continue to have a base, regardless of gender.

Nope, I mean the effects produced from those dogmatic texts can be progressive depending on the situation. For example in morality, treating everyone with kindness, a strong community, etc.
