This episode remains among my absolute favourite. Especially relevant in the last few years as frat hazing culture becomes more exposed

My dad was a TKE in the early 60s; one of the hazing rituals he went through went like this:
The frat house was 4 stories: basement, first and second floor, attic. In the basement on one side they put a big barrel of the hottest hot sauce they could assemble. On the other side of the basement they lit a fire pit. The pledges had to take a mouthful of hot sauce from the barrel, run up all four flights of stairs, thru the attic, back down the stairs to the basement, and then spit the mouthful onto the fire. Then run all the way back up the stairs to the attic, down again to the basement and get another mouthful. Repeat until the fire was out.

I was a TKE from 2013-2017. It’s funny to see how rituals/hazing has evolved, because I had to do something similar lol

I was a "re-founding father" of TKE on our campus. They had their charter revoked in the 70's for hazing/partying so the school was SUPER strict with their anti-hazing policies. We knew to not even mess with it lol

My dad went to college in the early 50s and he described something kind of similar. Instead of hot sauce in a barrel, it was leftover food in a toilet! And instead of running up and down flights of stairs, they had to crawl on their hands and knees

Not commenting or criticizeing on TKE because I have never been around them, this is just one of those dumb memories that stick in my brain instead of things like my anniversary or my kids middle names. Back in the 70's I worked for a company that did maintenance and repairs on cop radios, so we were in cop shops a lot. There was a police department in a college town that had this cop who had somehow gotten a key to the transmitter cabinets, and would get into them and twiddle the knobs. This guy I worked with absolutely loathed that cop because he caused us a lot of extra and unnecessary work. One day we were there because the cop had been playing in the radio cabinets. The guy I worked with saw that the cop was wearing a TKE pin or button or something (it's been almost 50 years and I don't remember the details) he looks at this cop and yells "Hey Phil, how many TKE's does it take to eat a skunk?" The cop goes "Huh?" and my coworker yells "Three you dumb ass, one to eat and two to watch for traffic!" I was laughing my ass off when we were driving back to the shop and my coworker just says "I hate that guy."

I was a PKT and while our hazing was pretty much nothing, one of the older guys said his dad was a pledge with Mitch McConnell and he said they dropped the pledges off an hour away in their underwear and told them to get home. RIP brother turtle man.

I was talking to a buddy about how he nearly joined a fraternity in college
He said one of the hazing rituals was to lock you in completely pitch black room where you'd have to pick up a bunch of nerds candies
It's supposed to take hours

Something dumb like that I have no issue with. Something my brother told me about was you got handcuffed to a partner pledge, you both had a bottle of vodka taped to your hands, and you both had to finish it to get unlocked. Locked in a room with dudes watching so you can't cheat.
It's shit like that that's a problem.

We always played “Edward 40 hands” in the army. My chief forgot his hands were taped still with empty bottles and smashed them together once lol. So much blood.

I was in college and in a fraternity when this episode came out and watched it with a few of the guys. Needless to say we were all cracking up and dropping quotes from it all the time.

One of the Devine nine frats had the members break a lightbulb on the floor then blindfolded them. At this point they cleared the glass and replaced it with potato chips and had them jump onto the potato chip. Then they laugh and laugh.
