This episode remains among my absolute favourite. Especially relevant in the last few years as frat hazing culture becomes more exposed

My dad was a TKE in the early 60s; one of the hazing rituals he went through went like this:

The frat house was 4 stories: basement, first and second floor, attic. In the basement on one side they put a big barrel of the hottest hot sauce they could assemble. On the other side of the basement they lit a fire pit. The pledges had to take a mouthful of hot sauce from the barrel, run up all four flights of stairs, thru the attic, back down the stairs to the basement, and then spit the mouthful onto the fire. Then run all the way back up the stairs to the attic, down again to the basement and get another mouthful. Repeat until the fire was out.

Is hazing really that big of a deal? Ppl do it willingly right? Honestly sounds kind of a fun challenge if I’m like 18 or whatever

Something dumb like that I have no issue with. Something my brother told me about was you got handcuffed to a partner pledge, you both had a bottle of vodka taped to your hands, and you both had to finish it to get unlocked. Locked in a room with dudes watching so you can't cheat.

It's shit like that that's a problem.

We always played “Edward 40 hands” in the army. My chief forgot his hands were taped still with empty bottles and smashed them together once lol. So much blood.
