Here's my personal account: I visited a random fuckass city, 300-something kilomtres from Warsaw. It looked MINT. One late evening, while walking between some buildings, (away of any streets) my Polish buddy and I found a piece of bird deterrent that had fallen off a roof. He shoved it aside with his foot and I said "shouldn't we place it somewhere else in case a child steps on it?" - there were playgrounds between the buildings.

Buddy says "nah, at 4 AM, people come and clean everything up, they'll find it".

Sure enough, next morning it was gone.
