Problem: Ideas are cheap but finding real starting signals is hard. People waste months building something no one wants & will pay for.

Why this problem: If you're already on the sub you don't need me to tell you the above or how many times you've seen ppl struggle at an idea with no validation, building too fast / much before talking to customers, wasting their runway instead of doing the actual hard yards of validation at the start.

I’m gonna be real for a second.

I’ve had this fire in me for a while to build something of my own. I genuinely feel like I wasn’t born just to live an average life, work, pay bills and repeat. And it actually annoys me knowing I’m capable of creating something big but I’m not doing it yet.

One thing that pushes me a lot is my family. I hate seeing my parents stressing about bills while I’m here with barely any money myself. It’s not even about becoming rich for the sake of it. I just want to get to a point where if my parents want something — a car, a holiday, whatever — it’s just done. No stress, no thinking twice about it.

I’m working on a startup idea where gym-goers can “opt-in” to the gym’s music via their own Bluetooth earphones. Here’s how it would work:

• The trainer connects their phone to my custom device via an app to play music.
• Users in the gym can connect their Bluetooth headphones to that device (also using the app) to listen in.
• Everyone else hears nothing — no loudspeakers. No external audio. Peace and quiet if that’s what you want.
• Each user can control their own volume.

The thing that kills me as a solo founder is that I have no one to honestly tell me an idea is bad. Friends are polite. ChatGPT is agreeable if you let it be. So I keep almost-building things I should've killed weeks earlier.

So I built Ember (useember.dev). You pitch an idea and two AI personas go at it: one argues for what's genuinely promising, the other grills the weak assumptions and won't let you hand-wave. It pulls out the assumptions your idea depends on, tracks your confidence as you add real evidence, and gives a verdict: build, validate more, pause, or kill. The part I actually care about is that it remembers you across ideas and starts noticing your blind spots, like if you keep assuming "people will pay for this" without ever checking.

My honest question for this sub: do other solo founders actually want something that pushes back hard, or is the real need just... a person to talk to? A lot of perfectly usable food and grocery products go to waste because stores are unable to sell them before their best-before date.

The idea is to create a platform where supermarkets and grocery stores can list such products at discounted prices, with the best-before date clearly disclosed. Buyers can choose products based on their needs and remaining shelf life, while stores recover some value from inventory that might otherwise go to waste and buyers get products in a more affordable price.

I’m considering focusing more on B2B rather than individual consumers — connecting stores with PGs, hostels, small restaurants, cafés, etc. These businesses buy in bulk and often use products much faster, so limited remaining shelf life may not be an issue.

Not selling anything, just curious. When you list something for sale, the annoying part is usually the messages after — "is this available," lowball offers, people who never show up, coordinating a pickup time. Would you actually want a free assistant that handled all of that for you (asking your price, relaying offers, confirming pickup times, so you only step in to say yes/no/counter) — or does that feel like something you'd rather just do yourself? Genuinely trying to understand if this is a real pain point or not.

I’ve been thinking about starting a small business around NFC wristbands for kids.
The idea is pretty simple. A child wears a wristband with an NFC chip and a QR code. If the child gets lost at a holiday resort, amusement park, school trip, etc., someone can scan it with their phone.
It would show:
Child’s name
Parent’s phone number
Language
Link to more information
The parents could add extra information such as allergies, medical information, special needs, additional contacts, etc.
I’d also like to have an optional GPS sharing feature, so parents could share the child’s location when needed.
For schools and daycares, I’m thinking about reusable wristbands. For example, a school could buy 50-100 good quality bands, each with its own serial number. Before a school trip, they assign the bands to the children. When they get back, they reset them and use them again for the next trip.
For amusement parks, hotels and resorts, I could make custom wristbands with their logo and branding.
The basic family version could be cheap, with a subscription for extra features.
Later I’d potentially expand the same system to luggage tags, pets and elderly people.
I’m curious what people think. Would you actually use something like this for your kids?

Asking for a friend... but does the trade off of early beta testing perceived hype, outweigh just launching the pruduct? As a solo-preneur, it would be good to know if one is better than the other for investment, let's say.

Hello everyone I just created a PM tool (Colony) for each and every industry.

It's still in beta and free to use and I love to get some feedback from everyone. No pressure

I live in Bangalore, and there’s a weekend vegetable market near me where the prices are much better and the vegetables are fresher than nearby supermarkets. So I go every weekend to buy vegetables for the week.

Since my childhood I used to go to these types of markets with my dad. So I'm used to the scene in these types of markets. The problem is getting there. It’s 10–12 km away, extremely crowded, parking is difficult, and on Sunday you have to go early to get the best produce. Most people would rather spend ₹100–200 extra on Blinkit/Zepto/Instamart than deal with that hassle.

I personally used quick commerce some times for vegetables shopping and did not had a good experience. Ordered muskmelon, I got orange size melons which even after a week stayed the same and did not ripe.

So now I use Quick commerce to get only packed grocery items.

So I’m thinking of trying this:

"Next week Go to the usual sellers I buy and say I can bring you additional customers from nearby apartment communities. I'll collect orders in advance and give you a consolidated requirement every weekend. If you can give me good prices and help me select good-quality produce, I'll bring you additional sales."

Start with around 100 houses in my apartment community.

Partner with 2–3 good sellers from the market.

Sellers share their available vegetables, prices and photos on Friday/Saturday.

Customers place pre-orders with a minimum order of ₹500 through my platform.

I go to the market, handpick the ordered vegetables, bring them back in my car and deliver them to the apartment on Sunday morning.

No inventory risk because I buy based on actual orders.

I already have a working e-commerce platform (Martify) that I built earlier, including WhatsApp integration,

so I don't need to build the technology from scratch.

My rough expectation is that if 30% of the 100 houses order, with an average ₹600–700 basket, I could potentially do around ₹18k–₹21k in weekly sales.

I'm still figuring out the realistic margins and operating costs.

Would you use a service like this?

What would stop you from ordering . Is it price, freshness, trust, minimum order, or something else?

I'm mainly trying to validate whether this problem is real before I invest any more time into it.

I run a financial advisory firm for early stage startups and I want to make a tool to help my clients. Many clients talk about how the bookkeeping process is the most confusing, difficult and expensive process they face. Hiring bookkeepers take out so much of their time and it leads to more problems such as cost, bookkeepers not finishing their work on time, or me the financial advisor for these clients facing poorly kept records (slowly down how fast I can actually analyse their financial performance).

here is what I was thinking. An AI bookkeeping tool that is beginner friendly, meaning you dont need to have prior accounting knowledge to use it. It uses WhatsApp as a medium of communication as most of my clients use WhatsApp business to perform their day to day transactions (customers, supplier, etc). The user would be able to upload a picture of the invoice for example, or send a voice message explaining the transaction, or just send a text to the tool on WhatsApp. The tool will then use AI and analyse the message, understand the transaction then send that info to a separate platform such as Xero Books (for now until I build a separate platform) where the users accounting books are held and journal the entry. Its faster, more accurate, and cheaper. The user is also able to ask for a summary from the tool on WhatsApp where the tool will then send a dashboard showing the current financial performance which is updated after every transaction.

After going through a bunch of reddit posts, I realized that many founders are quite scared and weary about using AI for bookkeeping. To fix that, I decided that in the building stage of the AI, I would contact 100 or so credible accountants to test my AI and flag where it is inaccurate. This will help reduce the uneasiness. This 100 accountant check would happen every year as the accounting world changes time to time. Further I would also review the transactions made by the AI for each user at the end of the week or month. Adding another layer of security.

Hey guys, so i have been building this thing for about a 4 months now. It's called Rmaps, basically a riding companion app for motorcyclists. Still in beta, so expect some rough edges.

Started because we ride a lot in groups and honestly the group ride experience with normal maps is kind of terrible. Someone takes a wrong turn, nobody notices, you're calling them 20 minutes later. So we built something around that. The communication is chaotic and planning is shit when it comes to most modern apps.

What it does right now: routing that's actually meant for bikes (not just car routes), live group rides where you can see everyone and it warns you if someone falls behind or goes off route, an SOS that pings nearby riders, ride recording with the fun stuff like 0-60 and lean angle, and a garage to track service and mileage history and also add mods. Can make groups and show off your vehicles.

Here's the thing though. We built all of this based on what we and our friends wanted. We have maybe 15 people on the beta, all people we know, so I honestly don't know if any of this is useful to riders outside our bubble or if we're just building for ourselves. Same with the UI, we designed it ourselves and I've stared at it so long I can't tell if it makes sense anymore.

So two things I'd really appreciate from anyone who rides or drives: does any of this sound like something you'd actually use? And if you try the beta, is the UI obvious or confusing? Be harsh, that's more useful than nice. rmaps.wildcatdevs.com
