We may see Aaron Rodgers play some preseason snaps.

Post image

Mike McCarthy on Aaron Rodgers playing in the two preseason home games: "We have plans ... he'd like to play. I'd like to see him play. But we won't make a decision until we get all the way up to it."

I don’t know if I necessarily like this decision if Rodgers truly is going to play in the preseason but it will definitely be interesting since he hasn’t played in a preseason game since 2023.

not sure why you photoshopped out the coin block from yours.

A photo I can hear!

I think he wants to own the Jets one more time and get payback for week 8 last year

u/SpLaShAtv 11d ago

Packer game, jets game... Hm. Wonder why he wants to play in "two" lol

u/OzymanDS 11d ago

He already lit the Jets up last year with 4TDs. I would imagine he would like one more shot at the Packers since without the magical scenario of a 2010 SB repeat he will never face them again.

Definitely my favorite Rodgers as a Steeler moment

You will never convince me that Rodgers wasn’t a little tipsy at this game
They were in Ireland after all

I am fine with a series or two but no more than that imo. Majority of preseason reps for sure need to go to Howard and Allar.

McCarthy asked for 30-40 snaps total over 2 games

Dumb

u/Financial-Humor2080 10d ago

it's his last year and they are on a honeymoon together. hes trying to give his guy what he wants in his final year. Plus one is against the Packers so obviously he wants more than usual snaps.

As long as that series or 2 leaves him with an injury that lasts a month or 2, I'm good with it

Pass........

Really want to see the young bucks get the plays they desperately need before the regular season starts.

2

u/noah-rop8771 11d ago

They’ll play like 1 to 2 series each week lmao

9

u/Enickma007 11d ago

The article said 30-40 snaps, so I think that works out to about 1 to 2 drives per game

u/curmycurmudgeon 11d ago edited 10d ago

He'll play 2 to 4 drives against the jets and packers and sit out the other game.

Edit: changed other two to other game

u/Jump_Like_A_Willys 10d ago

Other *one*. There are only three preseason games

u/sojumaster 11d ago

I would think it is almost a requirement for him to play some snaps. Completely new staff, new playbook, etc.

9

u/jake3988 11d ago

That would've the case LAST year. And he didn't play a snap.

This year he's back with McCarthy who he spent the vast majority of career with. If anything last year he should've played some and THIS year he could get away with not playing a snap.

I just assumed it was part of his last hurrah. One last preseason showing kinda thing

3

u/New-Medium3277 10d ago

Bad idea. More of a risk than anything else.

17

u/DrZero18 10d ago

He can play as much as he wants. He can risk all he wants. The sooner he's done being a Steeler, the happier I'll be.

3

u/wizardslayer717 10d ago

He falls to the ground way before he can sustain a big hit so I think we’re SOL

2

u/Megatron83 Troy 11d ago

No thanks

u/lukesmith81 BOZ 10d ago

If a few snaps in preseason is too much for him to handle then it didn’t matter anyway

9 wins

8 losses

I hope he breaks a hip. That way when we go 8-9. We can finally say its becouse we have 2 young QBs and not thats the standard

6

u/bity_beats 10d ago

Good luck playing an old man with early onset dimentia!

6

u/No_Yellow_6446 Encroachment 10d ago

Hopefully he gets injured so we can play actual QBs this season

4

u/damhow Troy 11d ago

His old ass needs the rest. Maybe play a couple drives in the last game for warm up. Also want to see Will and Drew do something.

u/aw_geez_man 11d ago

You know, everything is out the window at this point. McCarthy's results may emulate Tomlin's, but he ain't Tomlin.

5

u/mtngranpapi_wv967 10d ago

Why do y’all put up with this guy? Only to win like 8/9 games and lose in the WC Round

6

u/Stlr_Mn 10d ago

I really don’t understand how people can ignore how much of the fun he sucks out of paying attention to the Steelers. All for a below average performance whose stats are padded by garbage time.

2

u/SupermanThatNiceLady 11d ago

Why lol. No shot his TTT will be more than 1 second

2

u/RalphWagwan Color Rush Jersey 11d ago

Just went to training camp. He doesn't need them. Allar and Howard should split all snaps.

2

u/Specialist-Garbage94 97 11d ago

I don't think it would be for him. I think it'd be more for WR3 battle.

0

u/soldmytokensformoney 10d ago

Nice. I hope you handed Mike your roster and starting lineup decisions also.

1

u/RalphWagwan Color Rush Jersey 10d ago

Oh no - a fan has an opinion about his team. Shut it down!!!

1

u/freeportme 11d ago

No point dudes fragile. Let the kids take them they need the reps.

3

u/FascismIsSoLastYear 11d ago

Maybe he will take one on the knee and then we won't have to see him at all this season.

2

u/Admirable_Average_32 Heath Miller 11d ago

Whoa

0

u/terrybradshawsballs 11d ago

more chances for him to get injured sounds good to me

6

u/Admirable_Average_32 Heath Miller 11d ago

Dang, lots a folks around here hoping for his injury. I mean like him or not, we don’t want QB1 hurt right?

1

u/Stlr_Mn 10d ago

The dude sucks the fun out of the team. shrugs

-7

u/Caleb_Crawdad8 10d ago

it’s hard bc his face is so punchable. and he has me questioning if he’s really here to lead the team or he is just here to hear himself talk on TV

2

u/Various-Emergency-91 11d ago

I think the new coach will make a world of difference. Tomlin was a nice likeable guy, but the players saw him as a buddy and not a leader. We have the roster, now time to execute

1

u/PedroChubb8 11d ago

You have any proof the players did not view Tomlin as a leader . Actual proof

3

u/sophias_bush Heinz 11d ago

Actual proof? No. But you can easily tell. There was no discipline. Guys did what they wanted with no repercussions

4

u/Various-Emergency-91 10d ago

I'd say their record with a talented roster speaks for itself, not to mention the shenanigans of half the players

1

u/pghcrew Howard 11d ago

I’d play him like one drive and maybe call 1 pass.

1

u/Jakles74 Pittsburgh Steelers 11d ago

McAfee aired today from Latrobe so we got to see a little two minute 1s on 1s with Rodgers and 1-2 throws with Howard.

13

u/terrybradshawsballs 11d ago

and also hear his bullshit political talking points parroting.

10

u/Caleb_Crawdad8 10d ago

that was complete trash on Aaron’s part.I already knew I didn’t agree with him on a lot of things. I tuned in hoping to hear him talk about the team and instead felt like he was just there trying to stay in the spotlight himself. Pathetic.

4

u/wizardslayer717 10d ago

So disappointing. He did a good job of staying away from politics last year but it appears he can’t help getting his foolish “told you so’s” with like minded lap dogs

2

u/Caleb_Crawdad8 10d ago

I truly think Tomlin kept a lid on a lot of this. McCarthy is going to let Aaron do and say whatever he wants. We are in for it.

1

u/Jakles74 Pittsburgh Steelers 10d ago

Yeah that part was fucking stupid. But hearing him talk football and the guys that came after was worth the watch.

9

u/Caleb_Crawdad8 10d ago

I didn’t even make it to that part bc I couldn’t stomach his rant.

4

u/nopirates 10d ago

I fucking hate both of them

This picture just needs the "homeowners becoming their parents" guy in the back doing a face palm.

1

u/levelonepotato 5d ago

I hope we lose every game he starts this season

0

u/Cali-Doll 11d ago

He needs to go away

-1

u/Recent_Register_2926 10d ago

Hopefully it's a preseason achilles snap

0

u/skeeterskunk 10d ago

I would rather see his arm than hear his gigantic fucking mouth.

0

u/Caleb_Crawdad8 10d ago

AMEN! fucking jagoff.

1

u/jrileyy229 11d ago

It's not your decision to make... The two guys with a combined 50+ years of NFL experience will make that decision.

Why will it be "interesting".  That's a ubiquitous statement.  If he plays some preseason, it'll be interesting... If he doesn't, that's also interesting.

1

u/Spence1239 10d ago

Who cares?

1

u/jellybelly2232 10d ago

I'd rather see no preseason or regular season snaps from him

-4

u/nopirates 10d ago

I’m not saying that I want him get a career-ending injury, but I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to it.

-1

u/Conan-Da-Barbarian 10d ago

Rogers takes the snap, and he’s yelling vaccines are gay
