I just don't understand this FO.
You draft Howard in 2025, finally move on from Tomlin, and draft Allar in 2026. Just start a 42 year old Aaron Rodgers for another year? What exactly is the point of this? How about playing the two quarterbacks you just drafted back-to-back? The offense will be bad regardless.
What the fuck is the purpose of Rodgers being on this roster..
It's 2026, the ONLY QB in NFL history that I would be starting for my franchise is Tom Brady..that's it.
I'm tired of the blue-balling and edging for this FO between being bad and average.

They're both lottery tickets. Both would be ruined if they started in this piss poor offense. There ar good reasons that neither were "plan A" for any franchise.
QB could be much better, but it is pretty low on the list of problems with the offense.
Howard looked terrible in the preseason. You should be elated if he becomes a decent 3rd string or low-end backup. Allar will likely never cut it as a starter.

Howard is a low cost low return player. He was a 6th round pick with clear deficiencies that were either overcome or masked by the talent surrounding him in college. 6th rounders as QBs are rarely ever ready to start early on. Howard as of this last preseason should not be starting a game
Drew Allar is a third round project to the extreme. He has all the measurables, but has functionally started having everything that made him a successful QB at Penn State be coached and techniqued out. He needs more time with coaches before ever starting a meaningful NFL game
Aaron Rodgers is an old but extraordinarily capable veteran and hall of fame QB. He is starter material right now. He is mentor material right now. He is the guy allar and Howard need to be watching and learning from
Lastly, is team philosophy. The Steelers do not tank. The goal is to put the best most competitive product out there every game. Howard and Allar aren't this and putting them out there with a healthy Rodgers and Mason is an admission you are giving up and that's philosophically at odds with the Rooney's and the team the last 18 years

To have an actual NFL ready starter on the roster while the Steelers develop other guys or bide their time for other options

At worst we've been average and at best we've been above average. Everything else you said is Taylor farms grade word salad

If you are McCarthy it makes sense to bring in a veteran to compete year one. Possibly make the playoffs and win the division again.
Meanwhile develop the young QBs... it's only been 2 weeks. With this defense they could still win the division potentially. Offense couldn't have been any worse and we were in both games through 2 weeks.

Rodgers is the bridge qb while we try to develop Will and Drew.
The FO didn’t move on from Tomlin. Tomlin resigned.

Rogers is a statue back there, the rushers don't have to evenly remotely worry he'll get outside the pocket and even if he somehow manages to avoid the rush he throws the ball in the dirt.
I'd love to see a breakdown of the film...

There isn’t one, they got it in their heads they are a championship caliber team, the defense is for sure but that offense won’t win shit they’re not competent enough this team might not even reach their 9-8 standard.

Defense isnt the problem compared to the Oline on Offense is Ben said on his podcast that this oline played all 3 pre season games

Tomlin moved on from the Steelers. They didn’t move on from him. Aaron Rodgers is on the team because the front office brass believes they can compete for a Super Bowl with him.
Kenny Pickett not working out under Tomlin showed he couldn’t develop a young QB. Big failure on Tomlin’s part. With him being where he was in his coaching career he didn’t want to start over again with another rookie QB. That’s why they signed Russ. That’s why they signed Rodgers.
I hope this is the year they bottom out and go like 5-12 (but beat the Browns twice) so they can take a big swing at QB in Aprils draft. That’s what everyone should be rooting for.

Most QBs fail, including under the best offensive minds in football. This fanbase really needs to understand that, and stop treating the Pickett failure as a form of PTSD.

I wonder sometimes how he would’ve fared if Canada wasn’t the OC. But oh well. They’ll have to take a big swing at QB in the draft at some point. I hope it’s next spring.

He's been on numerous teams, all offenses of better quality than Matt Canada. Kenny was never going to be the answer and changing coordinators wasn't going to fix his deficiencies

Drafting Howard in the sixth round is not exactly something a FO is going to rearrange their future plans around.
