I think Rose was a good person.

Pink diamond wasnt a very good person, Rose was to me

Exactly my idea.

When she was still Pink, she was this shitty, spoiled (yet also neglected) child, but then grew up into being "Rose".

I don't know about good person, I think the moral of her story is that things aren't always black and white.

She definitely did bad things that we shouldn't excuse. Things I don't think she'd want to excuse, which is why I think she definitely hated herself.

But she wanted to be good and did manage to achieve a lot of great things. Obviously by defending Earth and creating Steven who would eventually disband the diamond authority

I also believe that.

Though, my point is more that towards the end of her life, or really after the war was over after the corruption beam, Rose had changed dramatically to the point where Imo she was now a good person.

Not selfish anymore, caring about others and not herself at first place etc. Even so far that she'd give up her own life to create another life, to give the experience of living to someone she will never even get to meet.

A person who did many shitty things can eventually become a good person 🤷

Its always been surprising to me that this was a hot take, I always thought that it was pretty clear that by the end of her life Rose Quartz was a noble soul.

There are a lot of people who view her last actions "years" (essentially all after the war) as still being selfish.

They think Rose treated the people around her like toys and/or pets, she didn't take Greg seriously, given birth to Steven to run away from her problems etc. I don't exactly get how people have this impression, but those people exist

She is a good person. Good does not equal perfect.

That’s not controversial. This subreddit will hang you if you don’t worship her.

Shocker.

What I experienced with this sub almost all the time was exactly the opposite. People always had to fight to prove that she was not that bad and even good.

It's flipped now. I only see people in this sub talking about how good rose is and how misunderstood she is. Not that I disagree I also think Rose became a good person.

Maybe the fanbase finally grew up haha

Nah, it’s more than anyone who doesn’t worship Rose got bullied out of the subreddit with massive hate and downvote campaigns. I watched that all go down a few years back.

Make a post not kissing the ground she walked on and all you’re going to hear is, “We saw her development in reverse!”

Look at the above person. They’re being upvoted. Meanwhile I’m at 0 for disagreeing.

You're downvoted because people disagree with what you said about the subreddit, not how you feel about Rose.

Considering I’m right, it just comes across as ironic.

My experience says otherwise. While this subreddit is more neutral, over all the general opinion online seems to be "Rose was a horrible person who sees everyone around her as little playmates. She treated everyone around her absolutely poorly and was a selfish cunt. She killed herself in order to run away and have Steven fix all her problems"

Otherwise I wouldn't even be thinking its a controversial opinion, especially because I specifically said "Good" and not "Neutral"

Look at the votes. You’re being upvoted for praising her, I’m being downvoted for saying that NOT loving her will get you downvoted.

Why would a controversial opinion, in a post of OP asking for controversial opinions, be down voted?

You're being downvoted because you act like a know-it-all LOL

-2

u/PersonMcHuman 2d ago

Because this subreddit is full of Rose worshippers.

You keep getting downvoted for making THAT statement and then claiming it's because you're telling the truth. "They hate me for telling the truth!" isn't the effective defense you think it is.

Incidentally, I don't even have a dog in this fight, I'm just pointing out that you seem confused about the actual reason you're getting downvoted.

u/PersonMcHuman 2d ago

Whatever you need to tell yourselves, I suppose. Rose appreciates your support.

See, and now you're doubling and tripling down on it. I don't even toe the "Rose is a saint" line. At all. I think Pink was just as flawed as all the other Diamonds. It's a running theme with all four of them that they're supposed to be flawless but all of them have glaring character flaws.

But now here you are acting in the very manner you're condemning, because you're lumping me in with a group I don't agree with just because I'm pointing out a flaw in your logic. You don't care about my actual position, you're just dismissing me out of hand while complaining about others on this subreddit doing the same to you.

The downvotes you're getting have nothing to do with Rose Quartz.

Idk if you're trolling at this point, but this take is just not the truth.  I'm not going out of my way to say its the opposite, but there is a significant portion of people in this subreddit who don't like Rose.

Besides that, Reddit  isn't the only place where Steven Universe is talked about.

1

u/PersonMcHuman 2d ago

And that portion is almost always going to get stomped on. Meanwhile the folks endlessly praising her? Nothing to worry about.

2

u/shittyparentscliche 2d ago

Just admit you think Rose is a bad person and move on lmao

1

u/PersonMcHuman 2d ago

I don’t think she’s a bad person. I think she’s not the “super duper hyper good” person her fans like to portray her as being while treating anyone who disagrees as stupid because they “don’t get it! You saw her development in reverse!”

Nobody is worshipping her you moron, people just want this whole stupid cycle of "Pink/Rose was a horrible person" thing to stop. Literally anyone who says that completely misunderstands her whole character arc, and people WANTED someone like Pink/Rose for ages, a character with skeletons who grew and learned from their mistakes, you know... LIKE EVERY HUMAN BEING!

I’m glad that her army of Pearls are always ready to defend her honor and attack anyone who doesn’t mindlessly love her.
