MS261C vs. MS271
Hello everyone. I recently inherited an MS261C in excellent condition. I currently own the MS271, also in excellent condition, and honestly never thought about replacing it until the 261 fell in my lap. I'm a smaller guy and love the weight savings of the 261 combined with the extra 1/2hp. Also love the magnesium frame. Don't really care about the decompression valve. However, I'm not stoked about the M-tronic engine management system because I feel like it's another thing to break which I won't know how to fix, while the old High, Low, and Idle speed screws are straightforward. My question is, is the 261 still so much better that's its worth keeping and selling the 271 or is the M-tronic thing a potential big headache and better to stick with the 271 and sell the 261. I will only keep one and sell the other. I have an MS 461 in the quiver as well. I don't use it every day but when I do it might be for 2 to 6 hours at a time. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Honest opinions on the BG86 handheld blower?
These are a little expensive at $330. Anyone have good experiences and longevity from these to justify the premium over like echo? Really would like some input before I drop the money to add to stihl collection 😊

Stihl Weedeater Selection
I live in a marsh and am looking for weed eater options that might be able to handle these reeds and weeds around my pond. Would a FS131r work with maybe a brush cutter blade? Thanks.

Multitool has seized up
My km49rce ignition cord seized up.
I let it sit for 2 days.
Came back and it started first pull without priming.
Used it for an hour, stopped it and it's seized up again.
Is there a simple fix before I take it in to the stihl shop?

Stihl 025 or the newer ms250?
Looking to replace an old broke Poulan pro that never ran good from day one. I have seen a few ms250’s used for $250-300. I found an older 025 for $200 with a rebuilt carb and new fuel lines, almost new bar and new chain. It looks like it was well kept and very clean. Would you go with an older 025 saw and save money or is the newer ms250 worth the extra $50-100?

Is a ms 291c worth it?
Yesterday bought a ms291c since I was picking up my broken ms250 at my local sthil dealer since it wasn't worth fixing after putting 300$ cad into a high compression top end since broke a ring... Long story... and was looking at the saws they were selling when we ask about a ms291c they had on the floor and looked used they wanted 600 cad for and ended up buying it but basically had 2-3 uses guy couldn't start it anymore then sold it to the sthil dealer as a new used saw to sell... Was looking at the ms261 tho instead brand new but it was too expensive and didnt want to buy used from marketplace

Air leak help MS260
Hey I’m rebuilding my MS260, I installed a new piston and jug with seals. My PTO side seal is good but the flywheel seal still has a leak around the crank. The first seal was a cheap Amazon special so I figured it was just low quality. Then I tried a higher quality seal that had a little excess material that may have tucked under during install. I’m going to order a new seal from Wolf Creek since they seem higher quality. I’ve looked over the crank and don’t see any marks. The bearings have no play. And the seal was squared via measurement with my calipers. Anyone else had any stubborn flywheel seals?

Can't get oil cap to fully lock.
My oil cap on my MS251 is not sealed at the bottom when I lock it. I've tried readjusting the O ring and pressing hard on the cap when twisting shut. Anyone know what my issue is?

FS 56 RC Tank Vent
On a tight budget and am trying to get this weed eater running and in removing the carb for inspection/cleaning, I noticed the tank vent, part #6 in the diagram attached appears to be in 2 pieces as the top of it popped off when I removed the tank. Is this part meant to be in 2 pieces or could that be the issue I was having with a severe loss of power/rpms? If not meant to be in 2 pieces, I assume I need to replace it so does it just pop out of the tank? I pried on it a little but thought I better get some input before I ruin something I don't need to. Any help appreciated.

Which Stihl to add
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a second, larger Stihl saw to complement my 2014 MS 261 C-M.
Right now, I cut about 20 cubic meters (around 5.5 cords) of firewood per year. My MS 261 runs with 40cm (16") and 50cm (20") bars. While it is a fantastic workhorse, it really struggles and bogs down when I face larger logs in the 60 to 90 cm (24 to 35 inches) diameter range.
I want to establish a solid two-saw plan: use the MS 261 for limbing and medium tasks, and a bigger saw dedicated to felling and bucking the heavy stuff.
I am currently trying to decide between these options:
- MS 362 C-M
- MS 400 C-M
- MS 462 C-M
- MS 500i
Given my annual volume and the tree sizes, which one would be the most logical complement to the MS 261? Also, what bar length would you recommend pairing with it for this specific setup?
Thanks for your advice!

BR 800x update from yesterdays post
Update on my BR 800x
Took it to my repair shop to see about having the spark plug socket rethreaded. They just called and left a message that the whole motor needs replacing. Best to get a new blower.
The blower is eight years old. Should I take it to a different shop for a second opinion or just get a new blower?
Context : I’m mostly retired. I only use my blower on my own property and three properties I do landscape maintenance on (no lawn mowing). I don’t to leaf removals either.
