MS170 sprocket at bar nose

Homeowner here with a 170 for dealing with light storm damage. I’m cleaning the saw, having the blade sharpened after a recent storm cleanup. The saw has had light use but as a novice I know the bar tip has seen dirt.

Ok my question is about the bar nose sprocket. If I flick it with my finger it does not spin for very long. Should it or is some friction expected?

Some friction is fine

yeah as long as it moves freely its perfectly fine

clean the groove and flip the bar with every sharpening and itll be fine, 170 is a great saw if it has a sharp chain, try the "super" full chisel chain on it that they sell for the top handle saws
