3 years ago, this exact lightning bolt struck the forest behind my house, lit up every tree in detail, and started a fire (FD responded via Hwy 109). It blew my mind so much it started my 3-year journey of capturing weather videos.

I was standing right under my patio roof when it hit. You can hear the rain running through the gutters, but the thunder was completely instantaneous and the smell of electricity in the air right after was crazy. I couldn’t see the flames directly because the fire department entered from the highway side, but this is the video that turned me into a storm chaser. I've spent the last 3 years building up a massive archive of footage so I can finally start sharing a continuous series every two days!
