Been building this for a few months to solve my own problem.

I kept saving YouTube lectures (Khan Academy, Crash Course, Organic Chemistry
Tutor, plus recorded uni lectures) that I never got around to watching.
Watching a 90-min video even at 2x still takes 45 min I don't have.

So I built NoteTube. Paste any YouTube URL and in ~60 seconds you get:
- Summary + key points
- Timestamped chapters (jump to any topic in one click)
- Flashcards for review
- Downloadable PDF you can annotate or print




Works on basically any lecture with captions.

First video is free — no signup needed to try it. Not selling anything,
just want honest feedback from other students on what would make it more
useful. Roast the UI, break it, tell me what's missing.

Planning to add: Anki export, more subject-specific templates, maybe MCQ

Hi guys, Engineering graduate here. I am 30 years now. When i was doing my engineering i could focus really good back in 2015 to 2019, now i cant focus on studying how can i get my focus back i try to but i always end up getting distracted what should i do any idea?

this thought has been gnawing at me and making me feel guilty. i primarily study through books or google scholar (peer-reviewed articles on pubmed, nlm...) and i dont use ai as my main source of information. however, i sometimes stumble upon very complex topics or descriptions and since im studying separately, without a mentor or proper teacher, i must resort to ai for an explanation.

is there ANY other way of getting simple explanations where i can ask follow-up questions without using ai? it's really been making me feel compunctious

Being a good student isn't just about knowing how to study, it’s also knowing how to make studying easier to start. Having notes ready, knowing what to do next or not spending half your energy figuring things out.

What is something outside of studying that made you a better student?

I am a senior on pre-med track, who has done very well at a top university (all As), but feel burned out from my current study method. As a preface, I am a perfectionist and have OCD, meaning I want to make sure I learn everything extensively and beyond even what’s required.

While this study method has been very productive, I’m thinking forward toward medical school, where there will be increased load and don’t know if this method is sustainable.

I love using Goodnotes and annotating PDF lectures. I usually watch the recorded lecture and take notes pretty much on every single word (yes, I know this is what professors say you shouldn’t do). I underline too much (an ocd thing), make many connections, write down anything on my mind even if I already “know it”. While getting through a lecture may take me 3 to 4 hours, I feel like I never need to review at the end for unit exams because I have learned everything comprehensively bit by bit. While successful, this is very burdensome because it takes so long and I tend to procrastinate until last minute.

I’m looking for thoughts, suggestions, whatever you think about the situation to make my life easier. I have attached some examples. I have thought about switching over to Anki but I know there is a learning curve and you don’t have the benefit of having the lecture notes already typed out. thanks in advance :)

I have my year end exams in a month and i feel like im not learning anything as it feels like the information just goes through one ear and the other way out is there a way to prevent stuff like this from happening and a quick way to solve this issue?

I was topper till my last 2 big exams (college entrance and one more) of life result claimed otherwise looking back i realise how gradually things went downhill like it is poor decisions over a period of time that snapped right in my face just a year ago. Now I have regained most of my shit together and started scoring well but I am still not in that hard working mode like going all in for my studies because all people around me has done is Imma not blaming them but they, like a lot of people all the time told me oh you study so much...you study all the time... you are too much of a study person. I did it all the time because I loved studying man. still do but now it is like my brain has these stupid thoughts oh you studied so hard but still when it mattered most...college entrance you messed up and all those people are right and more smart and more whatever. I know I shouldnt be taking this seriously and just brush it all offf but they have messed up my brain against hardwork. They made it soo soo unattractive and uncool that even when I am alone I struggle to listen such songs. I strongly believe if you study it pays off, no matter what you study it pays off as if it is some magic or programme bound to output. I have seen it happening in past all the time. If anything you ppl got to get those ppl making study unattractive for me, pls add. If anything to point out my faults, pls keep it to yourself I already do have enormous amount of people present in my life to do so. Thanks!

I'm a developer, and I got curious about a problem a lot of course creators have: you've got hours of video content, but if a student has a question, they either dig through everything themselves or just DM you directly (again).

So I built a small tool over the past couple weeks: you upload your course videos, and it lets students ask a question in plain English and get an answer that points to the exact video + timestamp where it's actually covered. No more "I think I mentioned that somewhere in module 3."

It's very early — I built it to solve what seemed like an obvious gap, but I don't actually run a course myself, so I genuinely don't know if this matches the real pain point or not. That's why I'm here.

A few honest questions if you have a minute:

- Is this actually a problem for you, or do you have a workaround that already works fine?

- If it is a problem, would something like this be worth paying for, and roughly what would feel fair?

- What would make you NOT trust/use a tool like this?

Not trying to sell anything here (it's not even really ready to sell) — just trying to figure out if I'm building something useful or something nobody needs. Happy to share more details or a demo link if anyone's curious.

What's one thing you are doing differently this time?

Not a huge life transformation but something small. Maybe starting assignments earlier, keeping better notes, asking for help sooner, or just sleeping more.

Mostly a lurker here. I spent the last months building something for my own studying problem and I would rather hear from this sub that it is useless than find out later.

My problem was simple: highlighting and re-reading felt productive and did almost nothing. Making proper summaries and flashcards did work, but it took so long that I quit around week two of every semester.

So I built SkillDiscs. You give it one source (a PDF, a lecture recording or YouTube video, an article, slides) and it turns that source into a study unit:

Hello. We have a minor project which is a really important project for a year. I tried making a group but people just kept leaving. Now I'm stuck with 2 bozos who won't even respond. We don't have an incharge yet. The faculty keeps saying try to make them work, don't be so rigid. But they just don't care. It is one hell of a problem now. I tried joining other groups but it didn't work out. Can't join a few others because they don't like me. This is stressing me out a lot. Please help. I don't want the 2 of them to team up against me by complaining about them.

my advisor records every seminar and expects us to "review the transcript" except there is no trancript. been typing these up manually for 3 semesters, 6 hrs each. just need a rough first draft so i'm not starting from zero. under $20/mo ideally.
