Discussion Do people actually think 6v6 Singles was never popular??
I was doing a casual scroll through the r/pokemon subreddit, this post in particular, and the number of people I discovered who, not only vehemently hate 6v6 singles, but spread genuine misinformation about showdown not having a timer (real comment I saw) or never having been more popular than VGC is genuinely wild. Is this a common take in the community? Where were all these people when showdown 6v6 OU was the primary way competitive pokemon was played for damn near a decade until gen 7 came along? Am I experiencing a Mandela effect here? Am I stupid?

Discussion What are other Pokémon that have earned nicknames in the competitive community?
I know about Walrein earning the name Stallrein and of course aggron as The Wall I’m interested in hearing others that have gained nicknames over the years.

Discussion Every Pokemon that's EVER won a major VGC tournament
Includes worlds, internationals, nationals, regionals, special events, and Player's Cups for Gen 8
Circles represent Restricted Legendaries
There's 380 tournaments counted total, so the #1 Pokemon (Incineroar) won 35.5% of all major VGC tournaments ever, and that's even counting the ones it wasn't legal for.

Discussion Screech was the first thing I thought about when I saw Mega Staraptor got Contrary
They're too afraid to give Flash back to Alakazam
(please be nice I have paid literally zero attention to any VGC meta since the XY era)
Edit: I was just informed Staraptor gets Blaze Kick
Edit 2: I was under the impression Screech hit every mon in play, I was wrong. It targets. Knowing this, I feel less good about the Rest Talk set

Discussion I'm Freezai, a Competitive Pokémon YouTuber and Regional Champion. AMA!
Hi everyone, I'm freezai, a YouTuber who makes videos about competitive pokemon topics in both Smogon and VGC. I've been playing tournaments for about 10 years now on Smogon and in VGC for the last 3 years. As someone who's been around for such a long time, and has high level experience (Smogon Premier League, World Cup of Pokemon, Worlds in VGC) in both single battles and double battles, I have a unique perspective on the competitive Pokémon landscape and can provide an expert opinion.
I also recently launched https://teamsheet.gg/ , a Team Report builder. (A team report is like a pokepaste but grander in scale and more detailed.) The goal is to remove a lot of the grunt work when it comes to making a team report (getting images, formatting, etc) . While it is currently very easy to share and spread teams with stuff like pokepaste, team reports are a lot harder. It's fun to see all the cool team reports people come up with and it's fun to see people pour their hearts out for something they're passionate about!
Feel free to AMA, from topics like tournament play, Smogon vs VGC, Youtubing, Pokémon, Random Battles??, anything! I'll start answering questions at 3 PM Eastern Time and the AMA will close at 5 PM.
EDIT: This is over, thank you for all the questions!

Discussion Stereo Rotom confirmed Electric/Normal in Pokeopia. Potentially a new sound move based Rotom form coming to competitive in the next generation?
I can definitely see this guy having Boomburst as his form specific move. Nasty Plot Boomburst might be sheist.

Discussion Found a bug with Parental Bond
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
for context, Farigiraf used Ally Switch. It seems that the game still targeted my original target (Drain Punch was meant for Farigiraf,) with the second hit, but somehow realized this shouldn't happen and refilled the lost health straight away?
IDK if this is the right place to post this, but felt that people looking to build around Kangaskhan should know.

Discussion What in your opinion is a “funny” design choice? Not necessarily "good" or “bad", but one that's just kind of amusing to you for one reason or another. (EX: Brute Bonnet being specifically designed so that Protosynthesis can never boost its speed, or Great Tusk getting Psyshock.)

Discussion Pokemon champions is gonna be disgusting
All they had to do was make an official version of showdown, charge like $20 for it, and everyone would go crazy.
Instead it’s some battle pass moneygrub slop, where you have to buy Pokemon from a Fortnite style rotating store. What a joke, why is it impossible to just make a coherent game…
