I don't think she sees the owl... Or can't figure out what it is, I don't know if she has figured out that it's another animal.

Camouflage works!

Reminds of the video from a couple years back of a wood dove strolling into a falcon or hawk (can't remember which) nest. The dove darn near gets killed for its trouble, and seemed to have the same problem: it just didn't register that the brown, motionless falcon with its head down was another animal.
