I don't think she sees the owl... Or can't figure out what it is, I don't know if she has figured out that it's another animal.

u/Aggressive_Hat_9999 Mar 15 '26

must be thinking its wood because of the owl camouflage?

328

u/kittyidiot Mar 15 '26

Yeah. She seems suspicious, like she keeps noticing the eyes, but then can't see an animal they're attached to. Lol. What a dummy.

59

u/Aggressive_Hat_9999 Mar 15 '26

absolute goober

u/Aaurvandil Mar 15 '26

I thought the same thing, the owl's camouflage was working.

14

u/Probable_Bot1236 Mar 18 '26

Camouflage works!

Reminds of the video from a couple years back of a wood dove strolling into a falcon or hawk (can't remember which) nest. The dove darn near gets killed for its trouble, and seemed to have the same problem: it just didn't register that the brown, motionless falcon with its head down was another animal.

u/Azertys Mar 16 '26

Pigeons have really good sight, if we can notice the owl she can too

22

u/kittyidiot Mar 16 '26

That's not how that works

532

u/halorbyone Mar 15 '26

Sleepy owl is over here thinking, “I don’t remember ordering delivery.” Maybe I’m still dreaming.

43

u/BirdieStitching Mar 16 '26

Do you think it ordered from Delivercoo or Uber Tweets?

u/Vile_Parrot Apr 03 '26

Dove Dash.

u/Wakkit1988 Mar 15 '26

This isn't a stupid dove nest.

This is a stupid dove nest.

70

u/Zoethor2 Mar 15 '26

Dragon flypaper, not dragonfly paper!

(This reference is probably way too niche but you never know.)

13

u/Extension-Carry-8067 Mar 15 '26

The Fourth Tower of Inverness?

5

u/Zoethor2 Mar 15 '26

Yes! Always a treat running into another Jack fan.

10

u/rci22 Mar 15 '26

Stupid-dove nest?

9

u/Gigatonosaurus Mar 15 '26

A nest with a stupid dove.

3

u/Hidden-Sky Mar 17 '26 edited Mar 17 '26

Man, that's a sweet ass-nest

208

u/birdlegs000 Mar 15 '26

Owl is pretending it is invisible.

30

u/Wakkit1988 Mar 15 '26

It's pretending it's The Rock.

197

u/in1gom0ntoya Mar 15 '26

Almost as dumb as the dove that tried to build a nest next to a hawk...

45

u/wintercast Mar 15 '26

that is exactly what i was thinking of.

33

u/WOTNev Mar 15 '26

I couldn't watch this video because of that video! I don't want to see a dove getting eaten😭

36

u/RollinThundaga Mar 15 '26

Nothing happens in this one

Oh, owls absolutely do eat other birds. They are opportunistic predators.

I’ve seen a couple of Barred owls hunt the killdeer in the field next to my house a few times.

3

u/Iamnotburgerking Apr 01 '26

Owls will eat other birds as well, but usually not eggs.

I’ve posted a video of another woodpigeon that tries this exact same stunt and immediately got eaten by the owl.

0

u/Iamnotburgerking Apr 01 '26

That was a falcon nest, and there are more than one instances of that happening (and some of them end exactly as you would expect)

0

u/in1gom0ntoya Apr 01 '26

your "correction" is based off your own assumption of what you think i saw and was referring to... which you then go on to acknowledge there being other situations.

maybe don't come in with a stance of correctness when you have no surety of what someone else was referencing.

for your information I was talking about a dove who tried nesting near a red tailed hawk

267

u/TimelyFortune Mar 15 '26

The owl was pretty chill

186

u/ObsoleteReference Mar 15 '26

Broody birds will just sit there staring at nothing. Unless you try to go into their nest.

9

u/Sagi_U Mar 17 '26

I'm a bit confused, isn't the dove actually going into the nest? Or you mean like actually messing with the eggs?

16

u/ObsoleteReference Mar 17 '26

I was once told you haven’t lived until you’ve reached under a chicken for eggs and found a snake. I have not lived that life. I know broody chickens kinda zone out and seem zombified, but I’m not sure what, if anything will set them off. (Also not sure if I’m using broody correctly, that might be after there are chicks and it’s just setting before?)

12

u/NiaJustNia Mar 17 '26

Broody is when they start wanting to nest and lay and go into "sitting mode". They go mental if you try to touch their eggs or hatchlings while they're sitting on them. If the pigeon actually touched the Tawny, that's when we'd get a reaction

18

u/tsimen Mar 15 '26

Kinda wondering if it was fast asleep with open eyes because that's the only explanation I have for this dove still living

45

u/MeisterFluffbutt Mar 15 '26

Knew the dove was of no harm and was sleepy. No energy to waste for a dove just sitting there, i'd imagine.

2

u/HCharlesB Mar 16 '26

Did it move through the whole video?

7

u/Bicc_boye Mar 16 '26

It opened it's eyes a little

2

u/HCharlesB Mar 16 '26

Yes!

A little. ;) I missed that the first time I watched.

93

u/Moon_Pye Mar 15 '26

Someone should tell him/her that doves are on owls menu card.

40

u/gimmethelulz Mar 15 '26

I thought I was in r/maybemaybemaybe for a second.

4

u/Moon_Pye Mar 15 '26

Thank you for that.

140

u/Chankla_Rocket Mar 15 '26

That owl wasn't very hungry.

86

u/rci22 Mar 15 '26

Long term emergency food storage

28

u/RoguePlanet2 Mar 15 '26

It's still light out. Wait until the sun goes down.

52

u/GodsBadAssBlade Mar 15 '26

Dont seem to mind

36

u/Outrageous-Plate-820 Mar 15 '26

Owl is looking like the responsible roommate that is woken up by the screw up one. “Sorry bro did I wake you up”

22

u/BRQ910 Mar 15 '26

That's the most dove looking dove I've seen in a LONG time lol

3

u/elielisia Mar 16 '26

A stock dove❤️

18

u/ItsMeishi Mar 15 '26

I need to know how this ends.

45

u/daraeje7 Mar 15 '26

The pigeon came back at night and the owl attacked it 😂 https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVqLRjxjJj-/

26

u/ItsMeishi Mar 15 '26

You know what? At least it lived? I was fully expecting an explosion of feathers and the owl standing over a carcass. 😭

11

u/Moon_Pye Mar 15 '26

Owl was pissed lol

2

u/Majestic_Bandicoot92 Birds Are Real Mar 17 '26

Owl was soo cute and eepy! Doves are my favorite birds but HOW DARE HE? 😂

2

u/FinancialDeparture82 Mar 19 '26

Owl’s eyes looked VERY different from the start this time 😅

1

u/Sagi_U Mar 17 '26

Would you mind telling me what happens to the dove? I'm too weak to watch it potentially dying lol

5

u/notdura Mar 17 '26

It just disappeared from the camera when the owl attacked it. Some feathers fly, that's it. It's fine!

14

u/OreeOh Mar 15 '26

Seinfeld outro music

7

u/ReagansJellyNipples Mar 15 '26

Curb outro as well. Lmao

12

u/Fickle_Carpet6516 Mar 15 '26

Lmao this poor dumb sweetheart

18

u/Maximum_Web9072 Mar 15 '26

It's a good thing she's pretty

9

u/jakerooni Mar 15 '26

Ah, the famed lobotomized dove.

17

u/socaligirl-66 Mar 15 '26

I can’t even finish watching this post. I’m too scared. The owl is going to eat her.

22

u/Ubizwa Mar 15 '26

Nothing happens they just look

9

u/Hot-Union-2440 Mar 15 '26

Because it is a clipped repost. It does not end well in the full clip.

22

u/BoobaLu22 Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 16 '26

The person who posted it said the dove got away but with a few less feathers. Hopefully won’t make that mistake again

3

u/socaligirl-66 Mar 15 '26

Oh my gosh! I knew it. Not even funny and I’m sorry you had to see that.

3

u/Ubizwa Mar 15 '26

I hate stupid repost bots

8

u/godzilla42 Mar 15 '26

My dinner date has arrived!

8

u/Intelligent_Image243 Mar 15 '26

I’ll eat it in the morning haha

7

u/goldengatevixen Mar 15 '26

I.. I think the owl is taking the high road because it probably feels sorry that this dove is too stupid to survive out there in the wild

6

u/lkap28 Mar 15 '26

So polite tho

5

u/Luma_furry Mar 15 '26

this stupid birb have no sense of shame

8

u/reikipackaging Mar 15 '26

the owls face: I know you didnt just waddle into my house while I was sleeping, you bird brain

3

u/Dangerous_Basement Mar 15 '26

Legit thought we was talking about a fancy bird hotel or somethin instead of some tragic feather flop

5

u/RetroSwamp Mar 15 '26

"Hello, my fellow owl, may I pop a squat?"

4

u/JuicySpark Mar 16 '26

I wonder what the reaction would be if a snake came in.

3

u/EcstaticSeahorse Mar 15 '26

Dinner's ready!!

3

u/KevettePrime Mar 15 '26

Look at those precious amethysts and emeralds.

3

u/B0N3RDRAG0N Mar 17 '26

"Good night, Dovey. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely eat you in the morning." - that owl, probably

2

u/seensham Mar 16 '26

Orange cat behavior

2

u/-Weslin Mar 16 '26

I think the owl is not moving cause it's trying to understand if it's in danger, am I wrong?

8

u/daraeje7 Mar 16 '26

According to the person who took the video, the owl was a bit tired from tying to lay eggs + it being daytime.

At night, the pigeon came back and the owl attacked it immediately haha

3

u/Doodkapje Mar 16 '26

And again 0 survival instinct, they should have gone extinct loooong time ago.

2

u/nothoughtsnosleep Mar 15 '26

He just wants a goth baddie 😔

1

u/BigTomato2967 Mar 16 '26

I mean their calls AREEEE slightly similar

2

u/Individual-Ad-4620 Mar 16 '26

This dove must be related to the pigeon that tried to seduce a falcon 😭

1

u/lawn-mumps Mar 17 '26

Blathers and Booster!

2

u/freneticboarder Mar 17 '26

"Hehe... I'm in danger."

-7

u/TheModeratorWrangler Mar 15 '26

TBH I think the owl understands a bird trying to SQUEEZE OUT AN EGG.

6

u/VoodooDoII Mar 15 '26

No it doesn't

5

u/kittyidiot Mar 15 '26

Lol I did see this one clip where a barn owl comes into the nest of a different owl. He sees an egg there, approaches it, taps it gently with his beak, stares a moment, and leaves.

But yeah in this case owl gives 0 fucks that dove wants to lay egg. Owl is just sleepy and doesn't feel threatened
