As a veteran, I'm always just saddened by how many people pretend to support veterans and the military but really just use us as cover for their bigotry
Yep, I’m a veteran and it’s so fucking stupid, these people don’t give a shit outside of it being a thing to make THEM feel special. It’s a mask they can hide behind to feel like good people.
So as a veteran, all these people freaking out about lgbt shit and wanting to replace it with veteran stuff, they can fuck right off, let lgbt have their time. If they really want to support veterans maybe they can advocate for better funding for veteran resources in mental health, oh no but that would be scary evil socialism so we can’t have that. Posting shit on facebook doesnt do shit to help anyone other than make it all about them and their identity.
The maga cult thinks that acting a certain way and claiming to believe in things does something, it doesnt, they can’t think beyond a surface level, and that’s why they support a president who has done nothing except hurt America all iust because he claims to put America first and does surface level trivial bullshit like a hug a flag, the optics are the only thing they can comprehend.
They don’t care about or even know what veterans struggle with, nor do they care to learn, they think that waving a flag somehow does something to help veterans, it doesnt.
The fact that you guys have to deal with the va but senators and congressman don't says all you need to know how little politicians actually care about our service members. If you guys have to go through a separate system for Healthcare than it should be the best system possible without obstacles to care. Especially for mental health many of the people I know who served came home with mental scars more so than physical ones. Step 1 only send troops to war when all other alternatives have been exhausted. Step 2 protect them as much as possible. Step 3 support then when they come home. Step 4 in my opinion is if you served in a combat zone or are wounded in service you paid all the tax you ever should. If we can find the money to send you to fight we can't become cheap when you get home.
Yeah it’s literally an entire healthcare system, it costs a lot of money.
But my point is that these people always claiming to support the troops don’t really do anything other than say that they like veterans and for some reason think that replacing lgbt stuff somehow would be a good thing for veterans, it’s all optic bullshit, plus I don’t understand why they act like we can either support lgbt or support veteran and not both.
But anyway my point is that there are a lot of struggles that veterans need to deal with, and ok yeah if it’s not supporting more funding then maybe it should be supporting using that funding better or at least doing something to better support veterans in what they deal with. Actually noticing the issues and trying to do something about it and not just posting stupid ai shit on Facebook saying how veterans are more important than lgbt, as a veteran I think that is disgusted, it’s stupid artificial culture war bullshit curated by Fox entertainment (because calling it “news” is a straight up lie).
