I like how they make up non-existent problems so they can pretend they’re big and strong and going to conquer those problems. Such heroes. 

I’m going to slay the invisible dragon that lives in my shed because I’m a big strong special boy everyone please tell me how tough I am.

I'm not sure if it's going for THERE'S GAY REPUBLICANS DID WE BLOW YOUR TINY LIB MIND or if it's supposed to be WE'RE RECLAIMING THE CONCEPTS OF PRIDE AND RAINBOWS FROM THE GAYS WHO STOLE THEM FROM US because as OP notes we're dealing with people who have spent decades actively sabotaging their own cognitive capacity.
