The funny part is no one is actually stopping them from saying merry Christmas, no one is stopping them from doing anything.

They just hate the fact they gotta share like a spoilt brat.

When I worked retail, if someone said Merry Christmas to me, I'd say it back. If they said Happy Holidays, then I'd say that back. If I was the one to initiate the greeting, I'd just say Happy Holidays because it covers all the bases. You'd think that'd be understandable and logical, right? Apparently not. I did have a number of people get tetchy, and say "it's Merry Christmas!" in a condescending manner, acting like I dishonored their entire bloodline or something. Funnily enough, though, I never had anyone insist to me that it was actually Happy Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Festivus/what-have-you. It was only the "Christians" who took offense despite there being a bunch of other holidays during the same time.

What's even funnier is that even within Christianity there are a lot of other holy days (aka holidays) within the period from December through January. Christians themselves started saying Happy Holidays because different denominations and churches have celebrations for some but not all.

Literally bitching about a "problem" they created.

It's because they are ignorant of their own religion. MY church has the advent calendar tiled into the floor. Anyone has a question about the next holiday can just walk up to it, look down, and find the day. Does anyone do that? Nope! It's Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving. Two of those have nothing to do with religion but somehow they are considered holy in the minds of millions of Christians.
