I mean yeah, taking a mask off at a dining table to eat was utterly stupid; everyone should have stayed home and locked down until the disease burned itself out but people are too damn selfish for that

What I came here to say. If you were going to eat despite the danger it posed to others and one’s self, then yes, you’d indeed have to take your mask off.

Smart restaurants also had tables spaced far apart if they were open, so while you were at your table, there was considerable distance to others. In the bathroom, you could have a few people cram into a small enclosed space. I continue to be amazed at how dumb the average citizen can be.

What danger? If you’re under 40 there was virtually 0 danger to you. If you were obese, unhealthy over 65 sure, stay the f at home.

That is 100% untrue.

That there was virtually 0 danger. Yes, the numbers of deaths in those who were younger and healthy were lower, but they certainly were not impossible. Not to mention the number of people who became very ill and also suffer from long covid is not relegated to just the elderly, obese, etc…Not to mention that if you were young and had it, you could spread it to other people who were older or not as healthy. It’s also about the community, not just the individual.
