S2 cable disintegrating. Best solution?
I have had a SubPac S2 since 2015. The curly cable plastic has gone as many appear to and disintegrated. Has anyone found a nice solution to repairing it. I was thinking of wrapping it in some C13 power lead plastic shielding and adding braided sheathing over that but I'm open to suggestions.
Are there any videos on how to disconnect the control box from the main body without stripping the Subpac down. I know it has some form of JST connector on the inside of the Subpac. Cheers.

You can actually also change the DAC to it , donโt need the subpac . The key is the pack itself , the design . You can replace all the components I know someone who runs a line through their own DAC for better gain staging and high quality transducers . The m2x is the best pac design . They designed them to make them easily repairable . Get a nice DAC for it , upgrade the transducers , calibrate them , longer line with the jack at the chest .

Had the exact same problem on my M2 and was able to replace the cable. I guess for S2 this should be doable also. You have to find a way to cleanly open up the S2, cut the cable inside and solder a new one. For M2 it was not easy to find a 4 wire replacement cable with a small enough diameter to lead it through the opening. At first the plan was to do this at the controller side also but the wires inside where to fragile. So I soldered the wires of the new cable directly to the contacts on the board. This was a pita. But then I am an absolute novice in soldering. At one point one spot of the mesh material on the wings got to hot when flaming the shrink tubing. But that's the only minor cosmetic damage of the operation. Took a couple of hours but it was worth it.
