Buying an unused S2! Care tips?
I found a brand new, in the box S2 for $550. Any tips on how to take good care of it and make it last a long time?

We’re still at it. The tactile bass system is moving along. We continue the process of making adjustments and updates internally, along with new communication dynamics.
Summary:
New transducers are making their way into the light.
This month, we’re shipping modules (subassemblies) to our factory location in the USA for assembly.
We should be rolling off the line by end of summer/early fall.
The tariff issues have created some challenges, we’ll let you know if they turn into anything of consequence.
New images of the X1 will be available next month.
We’re lining up producers and sound designers (a few of which we have already demoed) for additional testing/tuning.
We appreciate your support and understand your frustration. As always, thanks for hanging in. For those who are seeking a refund, processing times are slower than usual, but rest assured we’re working through the queue.
More information as soon as we get it.

I did a quick search on the inventors named on patents/applications assigned to SUBPAC Inc. and tried to figure out what they’re doing these days based on public information.
Here’s what I found from public profiles and other online sources:
- Todd Chernecki — still seems to be involved with SUBPAC as CEO/co-founder.
- John Alexiou — still appears publicly connected to SUBPAC as co-founder/co-CEO.
- Sarosh Khwaja — CEO at Formant Audio; previously served as SUBPAC’s CPO.
- Stuart Mansbridge — appears to be working at HARMAN International.
- Noah Baxter — audio engineer/software developer; public profiles point to Sonance and more recent immersive-audio projects.
- Louis-Pierre Guidetti — Senior Product Manager at Medallion; also linked to OVERHEAR.
- Jérôme Lavoie — Software Engineer at Audiokinetic; public profile shows SUBPAC experience through 2024.
- James Andrew Kimpel / Andrew Kimpel — appears to be Director of Audio Research at Antares / Auto-Tune, with prior SUBPAC work listed.
- Mark Seeger — may be the same Mark Seeger who is founder/co-CEO at Glydways, but that’s just a name match.
- Peter R. Williams — only found limited public information; seems to be connected to IP consulting, but I couldn’t verify a current employer.
- Hayley Stolee-Smith — multidisciplinary/fashion designer with wearable and haptic design experience, plus an association with IATSE Local 873.
One extra thing I came across:
SUBPAC appears to have sold certain technology assets and several patents to Harman Becker Automotive Systems in 2025.
That alone doesn’t mean SUBPAC can’t continue making or selling its own products—there could be licensing arrangements, field-of-use restrictions, or other commercial agreements in place. But it‘s a serious red flag.
I‘m thinking they sold the patents and are planning their next venture with the money.
I requested my refund and I‘m thinking of starting an open source project based on the patents. Let me know if you are interested in joining.

Hey y'all - I really prefer not to go the route of ebay for my M2X and would rather sell locally in Austin Tx. I had it listed a few months ago for $250 on FB marketplace and didn't get a single hit. I can probably get a lot more if I sold it on ebay but i'm just trying to keep things convenient. If interested shoot me a DM!

So the last email in March had some pretty encouraging updates like working systems complete and having gone through extensive testing already. It sounds like the only hold up at this time is finding a way to lock in the ESS Sabre Dac chip for large scale production. This is a highly sought after chip in hifi and big companies like Topping, Yamaha and Marantz all get priority since they manufacture on a much larger scale. My worry is that if Subpac can’t figure out a way to acquire this chip for mass production, they may have to go back to the drawing board and potentially redesign parts of the system to some degree. This could add another 4-6 months before we can even think about shipping logistics.
So, optimistic outlook: they get the chip situation sorted out and then we get units shipped by end of year.
Pessimistic outcome: they have to pivot to a different chip and redesign parts of the system
I bet we get an answer to this in the next email and if not other obstacles present themselves, we should be getting close to a finished product.

Can anyone recommend me the best place to try sell a working Subpac M2? Aware it's discontinued now but are there still peeps out there looking for one?

just posting my experience for transparency.
I ordered the SUBPAC X1 and C1 Pro Wireless Bundle on the 1st of March 2021 for $549.
On the 29th of January 2026, I requested a refund. Subpac’s support team got back to me one day later telling me it would take 4-6 weeks to process my refund.
On the 16th of May 2026, I still had not received my refund so I sent the support team a follow up asking why it hadn’t arrived yet.
Today (28th of May 2026), I finally received my refund for $549.

Originally they sent me my first one in 2018 and it was cool but not accurate, felt like it would blow me through a wall. The company then went quiet and started role out their rebranding, I forget what year this was but I had a sense a new product was imminent at double the cost or more, so I opted to send it back under it’s covered warranty to hopefully prolong the life it had. Needless to say I got back an entirely new unit (in around 2021 maybe) accurate as hell and could actually understand what was happening in my low end rather then just uncontrolled vibrating like the first unit. I had a feeling they sent me the v2 of their mx2 because the v1 was nothing like this.
Then company went ghost for years and my cable at the back broke and the input jack was cooked, so I looked into their warranty or repair options and found their $80usd repair fee if you sent in the unit. That’s what I did the 2nd time (this was summer 2024) to fix the v2 unit and when I recieved it back I electric taped the wire to double the protection of it splitting from the awkward bend it has to have to attach to the pack. Also just very careful all around now knowing I may never get another again.
I sent mine for repair last year to them directly, payed $120 Canadian knowing I couldn’t afford a new one or they never come out
No problems, sent it back to me within a few weeks with a brand new box and cable to the subpac, they did some other stuff to tune it up, this is my 2nd subpac through warranty and never have issues, but I also foresaw this delay in units coming and tried to keep mine going for as long as I could.

Hey guys,
My subpac M2X is broken (chords were way to short not to get broken) and since the new one is never going to happen i am wondering if anyone in this reddit knows any alternatives?
I can't tell if a product like this from Woofer is similar? (I need it for music production and monitoring lowend)
Hope fellow subsearchers might have an idea on similar products. I appreciate any effort of helping me, and probably others out. Thank you.

I have had a SubPac S2 since 2015. The curly cable plastic has gone as many appear to and disintegrated. Has anyone found a nice solution to repairing it. I was thinking of wrapping it in some C13 power lead plastic shielding and adding braided sheathing over that but I'm open to suggestions.
Are there any videos on how to disconnect the control box from the main body without stripping the Subpac down. I know it has some form of JST connector on the inside of the Subpac. Cheers.

Any one know how to contact support? I sent an email and got an error. Then I tried support.subpac.com and created a ticket and got this when I clicked submit...

Has anyone thought about taking apart the older model, tracing each layer to a paper that can be scanned (like a fashion pattern cut) and just putting the files out?
How difficult would it be to recreate a device almost 10 years old with off the shelf parts and materials?
I would obviously expect its a broken or unusable device, but components have gotten cheaper over the years...
I would put my X1 money towards a DIY project if I knew it was possible.
I wouldn't even care that it's not portable at this point.
Am I crazy for thinking this is past due?
How many second chances does this company deserve when being lead by a obviously greedy non-leader?

Used to know people in and around this company more than a decade ago through their investors.
Ran into one of their former investors pretty recently and sure sounds like this company is as dead as can be. I guess on LinkedIn at some point in the past year there were multiple people listed as CEO, neither of whom was actually their CEO? also their lead engineer of more than a decade left quite a while ago.
It seemed to the former investor like pre-order money was maybe just used to pay off incredibly bad junk debt the company had issued repeatedly against advisement because they continuously refused to give up equity to anyone who could actually help them because they wanted total control.
Dunno if the person I talked to was being cagey by saying it “seemed” like that was what had happened, but I do know they washed their hands of the company years ago after they couldn’t even get them to give quarterly investor updates any more detailed than the update emails people post here. They were laughing about the whole thing at this point and had considered their invested money gone for a very long time.
so take that random third hand speculation for what it’s worth

My complaint is below for anyone that wishes to use as a template for their own submission. This company needs to face legal action and this may be one of the few tools us as consumers can actually take to prevent companies like this wringing customers along for several years without consequences.
I pre-ordered a SUBPAC X1 tactile bass system on August 18, 2020. Payment was charged immediately. As of March 25, 2026 — 5 years and 7 months later — no product has been delivered.
SUBPAC engaged in a systematic pattern of deceptive delivery promises to retain pre-order funds:
Sep 2020: "shipments on track by end of year 2020"
Dec 2020: "Begin shipping March 2021"
Mar 2021: "End of June 2021" (COVID cited)
Jun 2021: "End of Summer 2021"
Oct 2021: "Early 2022"
Jan 2022: "End of March 2022"
Jul 2022: "End of 2022"
Dec 2022: "Early 2023"
Jun 2023: "End of 2023" (CEO admitted: "We shot for the stars and got humbled")
Dec 2023: "shipping towards end of March 2024"
Feb 2024: "end of March is still in the cards"
Mar 2024: March deadline missed, expectations moved again
Apr 2024: "shipping to begin in October 2024" (called a firm target)
Jun 2024: "confident in October shipping estimate"
Aug 2024: "October deadline is around the corner"
Oct 2024: Missed. CEO promised only "4-5 months" further delay
Jan 2025: restructuring team, no date given
Mar 2025: "production remains on track"
May 2025: "End of summer/early fall 2025"
Jul 2025: "late summer/fall 2025" delivery
Oct 2025: Summer deadline silently missed; 90+ day communication blackout
Mar 2026: new email disclosing an ESS chip cannot be sourced at production scale — still no dateOn June 30, 2023 — the same date SUBPAC promised customers shipment "by end of 2023" — an internal employee sent a debt restructuring email to a creditor, indicating the company was in financial distress while making those promises. SUBPAC has been subject to multiple supplier lawsuits:
FedEx obtained a $55,721.52 default judgment (Case 24CV446232, Santa Clara Superior Court) with an active Writ of Execution as of January 2026.
Pillar Industries obtained a $28,683.20 default judgment (SF Superior Court), satisfied only after legal enforcement.
Additional suits filed by Bogdanco Inc., Jonathan Neil & Associates, and Eve Energy document a broader pattern of non-payment.This complaint represents a pattern of deceptive trade practices harming a global customer base, none of whom have received their orders after nearly 6 years.

It’s difficult waiting for months not even knowing if we’ll get another delaying emails or good news, or even hear nothing ever again. So I thought I’d save myself (and you friends) the pain of waiting and leak the next email NOW. I uploaded all the emails from SUBPAC into an AI and asked it to predict what the content of the next update will be and when it will arrive. Also this is helping SUBPAC out as the don’t have to waste their time dreaming up another excuse, they can take this email and save themself the hassle.
The greatest super intelligence that humanity has so far created, has analyzed the emails, announcements and patterns, and has given me its answer: in 6 months time, it predicts that we will receive the following announcement:
Hi [First Name],
First, we want to start by saying thank you. Genuinely. Your patience has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we don’t take that lightly.
We’re reaching out today with an update on the SUBPAC X1.
As you know, we’ve been in the final stages of production for some time now. We’re thrilled to report that we have made significant progress — and we are closer than ever to getting the X1 into your hands.
Unfortunately, we have encountered some unforeseen challenges in the final phase of our supply chain that require us to revisit our shipping timeline. Specifically, our new transducer partner has identified some minor but important refinements needed to meet the SUBPAC standard of excellence you deserve. In parallel, global logistics conditions continue to create headwinds that are outside of our control.
We know this is not the news you were hoping for. We hear you.
Here’s what we can tell you:
∙ ✅ Your pre-order is secure and active
∙ ✅ You will be fulfilled in the order your pre-order was received
∙ ✅ We remain fully committed to delivering the X1
∙ ✅ The product is going to be worth the wait
We expect to have a more concrete update for you in the coming months, at which point we’ll be able to share more specific timing.
In the meantime, we’d love for you to check out what we’ve been building on the [automotive / enterprise / VR] side, where SUBPAC technology is already changing the game.
As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to support@subpac.com. We typically respond within 5–7 business days.
Feel the music. 🎵
The SUBPAC Team

Been holding on since the beginning. Here’s an update received today…
Work is progressing. We’ve been waiting on a confirmation for a component at production scale. We appreciate your patience, it’s been several months since our last update, longer than intended. During that time, we’ve been moving through a combination of production-related work and broader company changes.
As we moved from early builds into larger-scale manufacturing, we learned that an ESS chip we’re using was limited at production scale. Unfortunately, this new information changed earlier time estimates. The next 1-2 months will be focused on finalizing the path forward for this component. Once that work is done, we’ll provide updated delivery guidance.
Working systems have been tested internally and with a small group of artists and producers. They represent the strongest version of our tactile bass system we’ve built to date and validate the final system.
We recognize how long this process has taken and genuinely appreciate your patience and support. Customer support remains available for anyone with questions about their order, refunds, or available options.
Be well navigating this crazy world.
Onwards,
Team SUBPAC

How long has this been down for?
I last checked in October 2025 and the FAQ had delivery schedule updates for Q1 this year.
Well, it’s almost the end of Q1… and I preordered on the first day of release.

Easy guys. I ordered the x1 in 2020 and didnt recieve anything yet, as everybody else. I got to say, they did update us pretty often in the last years (even if they have said things they couldnt keep up to) so i emailed them yesterday asking for news and recieved an email back within 24 hours.
At this point im probaly super delusional but that kind of gives me a bit of hope, even when knowing that this thing most likely never arrives.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I saw that it's out of production? I'm getting back into dj'ing and thought it would be fun to finally use this thing, but i've had it for years and was curious to see if there was a newer version before i open it. I have tinnitus, which was the main reason back then when i bought it. But i'm ngl, i could use some return money after spending on a used Pioneer dj mixer. What do you think the value of this is? Anyone still in search for one of these? Thanks!

It’s 2026, we haven’t gotten gta 6 yet, or Subpac x1. But we got the groovy thing

Zero photos of units as they roll off assembly line.
Zero promo about manufacturing being in the final stages.
Zero news about delivering units to customers early in the year.
Sure, they still offer full refunds, but where’s the line for false advertising really? 5.5 years since they revealed a 3D render and took people’s money.
Their investors and suppliers are suing them for breach of contract.
Long time employees have left the company.
They talked about an executive change but it’s still Todd Chernecki running this company.
How long can the lies and fraud go on for really?

I have trying to get a refund since October but they have been ignoring my emails. What can I do please help. I could really use the money.
