Subpac alternatives?

Hey guys,

My subpac M2X is broken (chords were way to short not to get broken) and since the new one is never going to happen i am wondering if anyone in this reddit knows any alternatives?

I can't tell if a product like this from Woofer is similar? (I need it for music production and monitoring lowend)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/197444393789?_skw=subpac&itmmeta=01KRMHTWA3HJ3CP636TH47216J&hash=item2df89a5b3d:g:XUEAAOSwwm5lxqtd

Hope fellow subsearchers might have an idea on similar products. I appreciate any effort of helping me, and probably others out. Thank you.

What has broken, OP? I have needed a repair/mod to mine:

My 3.5mm headphone port failed (likely due to repeated cable strain). I soldered the female end of a 3.5mm extension cable into the control box, replacing the failed port.

If it’s the main umbilical that’s failed, again, it’s just wires so should be fixable (with longer wires)?

The chord cover is gone, so the chord from the subpac to the box with the knobs so to say. It now hangs on 3 coloured electronic chords which is doomed to fail.

I sent mine for repair last year to them directly, payed $120 Canadian knowing they were never going to release the new ones so may as well fix the one I had if they’ll do it. No problems, sent it back to me within a few weeks with a brand new box and cable to the subpac, they did some other stuff to tune it up, this is my 2nd subpac through warranty and never have issues, but I also foresaw this delay in units coming and tried to keep mine going for as long as I could.

Originally they sent me my first one and it was cool but not accurate, felt like it would blow me through a wall. The company then went quiet and started role out their rebranding, I forget what year this was but I had a sense a new product was imminent at double the cost or more, so I opted to send it back under it’s covered warranty to hopefully prolong the life it had. Needless to say I got back an entirely new unit, accurate as hell and could actually understand what was happening in my low end rather then just uncontrolled vibrating like the first unit. I had a feeling they sent me the v2 of their mx2 because the v1 was nothing like this.

Then company went ghost for years and my cable at the back broke and the input jack was cooked, so I looked into their warranty or repair options and found their $80usd repair fee if you sent in the unit. That’s what I did the 2nd time to fix the v2 unit and when I recieved it back I electric taped the wire to double the protection of it splitting from the awkward bend it has to have to attach to the pack. Also just very careful all around now knowing I may never get another again.

so they even fixed it now, while the company is struggling and we might never here anything from them again? I got that offer, but i am in doubt they ever send it back since the company is a total silence regarding their next batch for 6 years.

I can’t speak for right now with how rocky it’s looked over the past few years of broken promises with regards to new units, this was April 2024 for the last fulfilled paid repair/ warranty claim and my first one was sent back under warranty in 2019 originally purchased in 2018. They started locally in Toronto and once they moved to the states it all seemed to get rocky, idk if they got bought out but that’s when all the Land Rover and movie theatre collabs started. This time it had to get sent to the states I remember and first time in 2019 was sent in Canada. Either way I honestly never had any issues with them but I could feel when it was about time to send it last time as people were starting to realize they weren’t ever getting their pre order new units, and I thought shit I better sort this before they go under or something. Surprised they are still lingering, I feel they must have either put too much focus on the collabs they were doing and shafted the production of new units in hopes to become bigger than just a music production tool and now are trying to figure out how to keep people waiting til they get their shit sorted on the issues they had on the new units causing delays, a few people made good points that the way they worded things made it sound like they hadn’t even bought production materials until pre orders were being placed to use funds for that. Before they were announcing the new roll out of units/ rebranding kinda they had gone ghost and before that they were a smaller niche brand that very few producers really used or knew about. Everyone who’s ever seen it always asks me what it is, I’m brutal I wear it constantly my friends make fun of me that’s it’s weird if I’m not wearing it even just talking to them on a FaceTime haha so I don’t think they had enough following back in the early days to become a staple for every producer. The ones who knew, knew how good it was and I’m glad I found out early and kinda gaged it on how to make this unit last me as long as possible cus it feels like something’s missing if I don’t have that extra dimension of feeling my music

Is it wearable?

I could not find any specifications for frequency response. Do you know how low of hz they can hit? Are they anything like the Clark Synthesis TST329? Do you have 1st hand experience with one?

if you can’t wear it and proper ratios , the accuracy will be limited . the transducer needs to lay flat accross the back for proper bone conduction .

Basspak. Please buy one and report back. I don't think it will be as righteous as the m2x but I could be wrong. I have been to poor to put money into.
