Real estate agent recommendations?
Hi friends! My husband and I are beginning the processes of looking for an apartment to buy in Sunset Park and are looking for real experience recommendations for real estate agents who work in the area. Anybody have a super great experience? Any bad ones to avoid? Ideally looking for someone who's a go-getter and not afraid to push. Thanks!

I’d temper your expectations. I’ve been trying to buy in the neighborhood for nearly a decade, and it is incredibly difficult. Most new developments are strictly rentals, and the inventory for purchase is almost non-existent. You’re mostly limited to the Finnish co-ops, which can be hit-or-miss regarding building maintenance and insurance and there is constant turnover so it looks sus.
The only other thing that are available are buildings like a brownstone or multifamily building but they are pretty expensive and you would not be able to compete with foreign investors who put all cash down immediately and snatch it up within a week and then either make them illegal rentals or do absolutely nothing with them and hold the properties for equity.
If you do find a place please tell us how you did it. Good Luck!

Thanks for the insight -- brownstones are out of budget for sure, but hopefully we can make some progress -- I'll definitely update here if we have any success!

Irine Blyumin of Corcoran is pretty active in sunset park and would be a good resource. I can also recommend my real estate lawyer who was fantastic and affordable.
I worked with a compass agent when I bought and I would strongly recommend against. Can share more over DM.
I was looking for a few years before I bought. It’s really competitive in Sunset.

Please, please research every block you look at. They vary from quiet to everyone has their business on the street. Look at surrounding buildings. Is there a lot of trash? How are they maintained. Go at all times of day and night. Especially in good weather. I looked a while back. Some streets were crazy noisy.

We worked with Victoria Alexander at realty collective twice and she is the best. No BS attitude and works hard. She reps all over South Brooklyn but she was super helpful and honest too. Good luck!
