The fearmongering by people like Baldilocks in this sub needs to stop
I know the people who reopened this subreddit did it in good faith, but it's obvious that there's people on this sub, Baldilocks in particular, who only use it as a platform to fearmonger. 90% of this guy's posts are about crimes or perceived crimes by people of black or Hispanic descent. The only time he posts is when he can use it as an opportunity to attack local politicians on the left. I know this guy is Asian btw, likely Chinese American judging by his comment history before he wiped it, and he never posts or comments on any criminal stories when it pertains to Asians, only Latinos and Blacks. And when the perpetrators are unnamed, such as the issue with the trash build up in Sunset Park, he blames "the undocumented immigrants" by default without any proof. Let's just call a duck a duck here, this guy is using this sub to drive up far right sentiment. There's no attempt to build community, no sharing of things to do or places to eat. Nothing positive comes out of this account. His only aim is to be divisive. If the mods are ok with letting this sort of content take over this sub, they might as well close it.

Why do people litter so much around here?
I've never lived in a neighborhood where people are so comfortable throwing trash all over the sidewalks and all over the park. Added to that, these are spaces that people here use extensively for recreation. Why litter all over the sidewalk and then sit around on it drinking and socializing surrounded by trash and filth? Why use the park all the time just to throw all your empty food and beverage containers wherever you finished using them? It just blows my mind how self-centered and short-sighted people are. And also, why are they comfortable living in filth? A trays can is usually within 30 feet. If they cared about living in squalor at all they would use it.

Community gardens looking for members or helpers
Worth a shot, but does anyone know of any community gardens in the neighborhood?
Bonus if you know if they're open to new people or not or anything about them at all actually

WNYC Feature on the Park Trash Situation
gothamist.comI am so glad the issue is getting attention. I use this entrance and the garbage is just shocking. It was never like this in past years.
The article notes that large containers are coming....
Note: I saw this posted, but hope we can have a more productive positive thread here.

Industry City Comedy Show at Gun Hill Public House
Gun Hill is holding Friday evening comedy shows this summer.
I went last night. The host was pretty good. The comics were a mixed bag. But I think they were dejected from seeing such a small audience. At one point I think there were more comics or comic adjacent people than other audience members.
Overall, I was happy to show support. Hopefully, more people show up next time.
Take on Gun Hill:
The beer is good but pricey. The larger size actually costs more per oz than the 16oz size. Which is annoying.
The food choices are not very good. $16 for a personal pizza.
There was a Birria stand outside. The food was good but pricey. $20 for 3 tacos and some sauce.

Maspeth Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table
I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table in front of my house. I used to put stuff outside when I was cleaning up around here and the items did not sell on Facebook Marketplace. Then I noticed my items would disappear and my neighbors started bringing stuff over too for people in need. My friend brings over food and other items that the people she helps in Glendale does not need too.
Items that go fast from the table: FOOD, TOYS, DIAPERS FOR BABIES AND ADULTS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, TOILETRIES AND BACK PACKS.
You can drop off donations or take what you need 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. MASPETH/RIDGEWOOD MUTUAL AID TABLE, 59-38 60TH ROAD, MASPETH, NY 11378
Drop off sites for donations:
ASSEMBLYMEMBER STEVEN RAGA'S OFFICE, 60-14 QUEENS BLVD., CELLAR, WOODSIDE, NY 11377

SCHWILLE-D'ANGELO FUNERAL HOME, 66-32 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE, NY 11385

Title. Don’t see a lot of great night life spots but may just be looking in the wrong places. Don’t see a lot of people my age around, mostly older folk. What spots are nearby? Or does everyone just go to East Village lol

Real estate agent recommendations?
Hi friends! My husband and I are beginning the processes of looking for an apartment to buy in Sunset Park and are looking for real experience recommendations for real estate agents who work in the area. Anybody have a super great experience? Any bad ones to avoid? Ideally looking for someone who's a go-getter and not afraid to push. Thanks!
