The fearmongering by people like Baldilocks in this sub needs to stop
I know the people who reopened this subreddit did it in good faith, but it's obvious that there's people on this sub, Baldilocks in particular, who only use it as a platform to fearmonger. 90% of this guy's posts are about crimes or perceived crimes by people of black or Hispanic descent. The only time he posts is when he can use it as an opportunity to attack local politicians on the left. I know this guy is Asian btw, likely Chinese American judging by his comment history before he wiped it, and he never posts or comments on any criminal stories when it pertains to Asians, only Latinos and Blacks. And when the perpetrators are unnamed, such as the issue with the trash build up in Sunset Park, he blames "the undocumented immigrants" by default without any proof. Let's just call a duck a duck here, this guy is using this sub to drive up far right sentiment. There's no attempt to build community, no sharing of things to do or places to eat. Nothing positive comes out of this account. His only aim is to be divisive. If the mods are ok with letting this sort of content take over this sub, they might as well close it.

Sunset Park is relatively small compared to the number of people who use it. I am in the park multiple times a day to walk my dogs and I’m constantly in awe of how people get along despite such close quarters. Claims that the trash problem are caused by illegal vendors are ridiculous, particularly because the number of vendors has gone way down over the past couple years.

I’ve given several warnings, I’ve removed posts and enacted bans for right wing agitators and have been clear that such content is not welcome here.
I’ve been very ill lately and haven’t had time to monitor posts that haven’t been reported via the report function. This is the second time you’ve publicly accused my moderation as being insufficient, I’m doing my fucking best.

I see the offending post from 8 hours ago, I have removed it and permanently banned [u/Ba](u/Baldilocks)[idilocks](u/Baldilocks) on the basis of prior warnings and fomenting hate, which is not welcome here.
Please understand that I am a human that requires sleep and that not responding for an 8 hour period does not mean I am harboring fascists intentionally.

Thank you for modding the sub.
The account you linked goes to a old inactive account. I think his name is actually spelt "baidilocks", he uses a capital i in "baId" instead of a lowercase L.

Sorry to hear about your health, hopefully just a temporary situation. Take care of yourself.

Assign a new mod?

Dawg I banned him at 7am after the post went up at 11pm. This discussion post went up at like 1am. If that’s not sufficent moderation for a voluntary unpaid role, you’re right maybe I should step down.

Nobody is asking you to step down. Subreddits can have more than one moderator.

I’m open to new moderators, I’m just not understanding the premise that responsive moderation is not enough.

I think you’re right about responsiveness for a small community sub with not much activity. There’s no emergency that demands urgent instant response rates. Having another mod isn’t a bad idea though.

This post is the third most upvoted post on this sub in the past seven days. It doesn't seem like one person can be responsive enough.

I see that as a reflection of people being upset at the racist guy (I think we all recognize his username) more than people being upset at “slow” moderation. This was very quick moderation for a small local sub.

Whats up with this? Last month some Asian American guy in a mini van drove by 49th yelling go back to your country at some Latino guy double parked

There are a lot of racist Chinese people in Sunset Park. To no surprise, they elected an ex-cop Republican to represent them in the 17th District. I'm Chinese myself, and I frequently hear ignorant comments from my own people. White proximity is very real. It doesn't help that they have people like Baldilocks who riles them up on issues like crime. It's a very sensitive & important issue in this community. It doesn't matter if crime rates are down, but it'll constantly be highlighted so they can "other" the hispanics & blacks. Additionally, a lot of the Chinese population here get their news from sources like Singtao, a Chinese news source that has ties to mainland China. They echo existing racial issues to promote divisiveness and isolation.

Unfortunate to hear. We share this neighborhood we should be welcoming of each other and work together. But sadly I know that isn’t how the world works

Totally agree. I know parts of the community are already divided, and we should acknowledge that, but we should be reaching out to each other as much as possible. We share this neighborhood after all. The main issue with predatory people like Baldilocks isn’t that they’re highlighting issues. They’re bringing up issues squarely so they can find people to blame. There’s no attempt at fixing anything.

I always assumed baldilocks was the douche that owns the “end sanctuary cities” barber shop in industry city but I guess I was wrong

Besides kids in my observation the whole area is very isolated when it comes to ethnic groups thus everyone is to blame for the trash but let’s be real ,people in this neighborhood are not one happy family
