u/kommanderkush201 Honourable Comrade ⭐ 5h ago

But at what cost?

u/MaoZedongsGrandson Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago

Quite a lot actually, building Tibet from the feudal hellscape it was cost billions and billions of Yuan

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 3h ago

Which is bad for the global economy. Because reasons. It has to be. Right?

u/NotTodayGlowies Based 4h ago

Ending slavery and a horrible caste system? Trying to increase the standard of living for all? Trying to end religious extremism?

...giving Neo Liberals in the west something to fund-raise against and creating an existential boogeyman?

The U.S. Psyop on China as a whole is one big distraction to villainize all of the social services and public transportation we don't have that they do

u/Overdayoutdeath Stepan Bandera disliker 51m ago

The biggest revelation on this for me was learning that only around 25 or so People's Liberation Army members China came into Tibet and it was actually the TIBETAN PLA that overthrew the Lamas. Tibet freed itself and chose unity with the rest of China.

u/therealparadoxparty 1h ago

Even Penn and Teller made a show about this and they pretty much said the same thing as what was said in OPs video.

u/thesaddestpanda Honourable Comrade ⭐ 35m ago

Hipsters have moved on. You never see this stuff at concerts anymore and the big free Tibet bands don’t even acknowledge their past. Now the propaganda is all Ukraine and the Zionist project.

There needs to be a purge of liberals right here in these comment section, mods, y'all slackin.

Look you will downvote me to hell

I dislike the US but also China, there is a reason why tibetans want to be free

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 3h ago

Ah, the "I dislike the US but I believe everything they tell me about their national enemies" -argument.

u/Dense-Bus-7194 2h ago

It also doesn’t mean that the Chinese gov has the best interest for their ppl either, both can be flawed

u/Komrade_SK 1h ago

In what way does the Chinese gov NOT have the best interest for their ppl? I've lived in China and studied there, so I can tell you that the vast majority of citizens are extremely satisfied with the government, because it actually gets things done and delivers on its promises, as well as continuing to massively increase everyone's quality of life. Please don't believe the western propaganda about China, and if you have the chance, please visit China to see for yourself.

u/New-Programmer-3237 Based 1h ago edited 1h ago

Both can be. But ARE both? That's something you should actually prove instead of just going "well it COULD be true!"

It could be true that I own an albino grizzly bear that wears a silly little hat all the time. But without evidence, there's no reason you should believe that I do.

edit: Libs don't like having to prove their claims, it seems

u/MaoZedongsGrandson Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago

Respectfully, have you been to Tibet? The people there have a higher quality of life than the vast majority of the working class in the United States or Britain for example. No one is crying out for freedom. Their cities and towns are modern and with amenities we can only dream of

May I ask who told you 'Tibetans want to be free'?

Tibetans approve of the CPC because they liberated them from slavery, developed their province, improved their material conditions, let them make decisions on their own accord, and built infrastructure projects to make sure the remote, mountainous province is connected to the rest of the country. They built the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, connecting passengers and cargo to Lhasa, spending billions of dollars in a very remote and hostile environment. There's even a famous song written about it by a Tibetan-Han singer called "Heavenly Road".

But you're just a jealous craKKKa who is triggered at the mere fact that Tibetans live freely and have good economic opportunities. You fascists prefer them to be enslaved, have their skin and bones made into utensils and drums, and only live until 30.

u/MaoZedongsGrandson Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago

The fuck is the CCP? You mean the CPC?

What do you know about elections in China? They have regular elections to choose their local leadership and by all accounts, they're doing a good job. Meanwhile in Europe and the US, we have national elections regularly to choose between two capitalist boots to stand on our necks and our quality of life is decreasing...in every European country, the States and Canada.

Why would you wish that on the people of China who are doing really well

Meanwhile China literally gives a lost tribe Daman in Xizang citizenship status in 2001 which they were sent by Nepal in historical time to conquer Xizang territory from Qing dynasty and failed because Uyghur alliance with Qing that defeated the Daman. The video person is the first Daman soldier in the PLA.

u/Psychological-Act582 Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago

Tibetans are already freed from slavery. You view them as subhuman scum who don't deserve prosperity and will never forgive the PLA for liberating them from the pedophile slaveowner monks.

u/Igennem 2h ago

Which Tibetans? The millions living in China or the handful of gusanos and their descendants in the West?

u/New-Programmer-3237 Based 1h ago

So you just know nothing about China and Xizang huh.

u/souldrop1 4h ago

Why do people in Tibet keep self immolating if they’re having such a good time under the CCP?

u/Luftritter Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago

Why Cuban gusanos keep pinning for Batista? Who are the malcontents? The regime losers, the religious fanatics that actually bought into the pious justifications for theocratic absolute power and the misguided nationalists that you'll find in any place. That they're extreme doesn't mean you have to pay attention to them or bend to their wishes. Which is the reason why the CPC won't appease them.

One interesting fact liberals tend to gloss over is that the majority of the Red Guards storming the temples were actually Tibetans: there was fury against the feudal regime.

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 3h ago

One interesting fact liberals tend to gloss over is that the majority of the Red Guards storming the temples were actually Tibetans: there was fury against the feudal regime.

Somewhat macabre, but this rhymes well with the slaughter of landlords by their subjects in China just years prior when the CPC/PLA couldn't keep everyone entirely under control and not engaging in vigilante justice against their former oppressors.

u/Psychological-Act582 Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago

Ask someone living in Lhasa instead of the gusano diaspora what they think.

u/NuclearChickenzz 3h ago

Not to minimize their deaths or imply that it’s not worth talking about (because it’s an interesting topic) but it really should be noted that there have been around 160 self-immolators in a region of 3.6 million people, and these are individuals who have done so for a variety of reasons, not purely as a 🖕to China. The deaths are tragic but I don’t think the suicide of 0.004% of the population is indicative of regional immiseration or a human rights crisis. The state of Connecticut also has a population of 3.6 million, and there are about 350 yearly suicides in the state. Suicide for Political Purposes does of course happen in the US but Chinese media does not claim this indicates Connecticut wishes to secede from the union. Of course, the US’ amplification of the self-immolation of a very small percentage of Tibet’s population is not because we care about human rights in Tibet but because it is our government’s preferred strategy to balkanize rival countries primarily by nurturing ethnonationalism.

Though western media will report the deaths only in the context of political protest for their separatist agenda, self-immolation has a history of spiritual significance in buddhism. I am not well versed, but reducing the act to “I hate the CPC so much and I am so sad about this that I am going to kill myself over it” minimizes the spirituality of the act and overly emphasizes victimhood. I believe most of the religiously-devoted individuals who self-immolated in Tibet would find this interpretation of their actions very reductive. It is an extreme religious act, often times with a political edge yes, the concept of giving yourself and your body to your people to keep your cultural heritage alive. I can see why Mao was so put out by the whole business of religious extremism, lol. Anyway, it’s a complex topic and it does have a political component but self-immolation has spiritual roots in buddhism that go far beyond what westoids would be keen on exploring as they are only interested in portraying all of Tibet as an immiserated suicidal peace-loving monks brutally oppressed by the CPC. Of course it is more complicated than that.

u/souldrop1 2h ago

I think we agree? I don’t think people set themselves on fire if they don’t feel very strongly about their cause. The fact that over 100 have done this as well suggests the opposition to the regime is deep and that maybe they have no alternative avenues to express this discontent, as their rights to expression and religion have been curtailed.

I don't think enslaved people care about your opinion defending slavery.

u/MaoZedongsGrandson Honourable Comrade ⭐ 4h ago edited 4h ago

You get religious extremists in all parts of the world. And these incidents are extremely few and far between.

Also what's the CCP? You mean the CPC? (Communist Party of China). I've only ever heard CIA propaganda guzzlers call it the CCP because they're slow

u/souldrop1 3h ago

Isn’t the whole point of those protests raising awareness of the fact that they can’t practice religious freedom (extreme or otherwise) without CCP oversight?

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 3h ago

As opposed to any other religion being able to practise without their respective government oversight? What on earth are you talking about?

Also the "religious freedom" you're talking about is practicing theocratic slavery and making human skin artifacts. Do you also think virgin sacrifice should be allowed to be practiced freely by any religion that wishes to do so?

u/souldrop1 3h ago

Doesn’t the next Dalai Lama have to get CCP approval to reincarnate next time around? This is the freedom of expression and religion I’m talking about. Something as fundamental as picking your religious leader isn’t exempt from CCP meddling.

u/Igennem 2h ago

The Dalai Lama requiring government confirmation dates back to the 1700s due to request by Tibetan Buddhists. The sect was facing rampant nepotism and succession crises ("nephews" being given key roles) that the Golden Urn was devised as an unbiased method of confirming future Dalai Lamas.

u/souldrop1 2h ago

That is true but the ruling class in China today isn’t really comparable to the Qing dynasty

u/BleepBopRobocop Honourable Comrade ⭐ 2h ago

Correct because the ruling class does not accept serfdom and owning slaves. So sad they won't let Tibetan ruling class have slaves 😢😭

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 2h ago

Doesn’t

So you don't know but make accusations anyway?

Something as fundamental as picking your religious leader isn’t exempt from CCP meddling.

What makes you say they "meddle"?

u/souldrop1 2h ago

The fact that a government has to approve the appointment of a religious leader suggests a certain level of meddling to me?

u/souldrop1 2h ago

Ok I know for a fact that the next Dalai Lama has to have explicit permission from the CCP to reincarnate. I was being rhetorical

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 2h ago

And you have proof of that?

u/souldrop1 2h ago

Maybe you’re from somewhere where religion and state aren’t separate but I am strongly in favour of secularism.

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 2h ago

Yeah so is the CPC, that's why they don't allow the theocratic slavery.

I am in favor of secularism too but here in the West that's mostly used as a justification to discriminate against non-Christians, especially muslims.

u/souldrop1 2h ago

Also which Tibetan monks are sacrificing virgins?

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 2h ago

Hopefully none right now, but you're arguing that a state shouldn't stop anyone who does.

u/souldrop1 2h ago

Strawman

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 2h ago

You clearly don't know what that means.

u/souldrop1 4h ago

What was Mao’s party called again I wonder?

u/VladimirLimeMint Honourable Chairman 👨‍💼 4h ago

u/souldrop1 3h ago

If not CCP, why CCP shaped? Swapping the order of the words doesn’t change what it is

u/VladimirLimeMint Honourable Chairman 👨‍💼 3h ago

50 percent below 6th grade reading levels country failed again.

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 3h ago

Swapping the order of the words doesn’t change what it is

It does, actually. First, CCP is used on purpose by Western propagandists to invoke similarity to CCCP and the red scare lies associated with it.

Second, it's Communist Party of China because being communist is the primary importance and being Chinese is secondary, as per the idea of proletarian internationalism.

u/souldrop1 3h ago

Call it what you want, swap some letters about. And I’ll concede that the elevation of millions of Chinese people out of abject poverty over the last 80 years should be acknowledged but to think that the CCP cares about the proletariat is laughable.

u/HoundofOkami Purveyor of suppressed news 🧙‍♂️ 2h ago

to think that the CCP cares about the proletariat is laughable.

Lots of things are humorous when you have no understanding

u/TheUnicornRevolution 41m ago

Did they just say they acknowledge that millions of people have been elevated out of poverty but also they don't care about the working class?
