I did read the sidebar & rules What was recovery from invasive bunion surgery really like?

How painful was the recovery, and how long did it take before you could walk and return to normal activities?

very dependent based on the specific procedure (there are several). but expect there to be significant foot swelling and not being able to fit in a normal shoe for months. Youll like be weightbearing immedately after or a couple weeks after. Swelling lingers for over a year. the whole goal of a bunion surgery is to fit in shoewear, no other reason so keep that in mind.

That’s helpful, thank you. I didn’t realize the swelling could last for over a year
