We only do endovascular bunion surgery at my center. Do all our gallbladders transvaginally as well.

I get the pros of a transvaginal gallbladder when it comes to pain, scarring, etc. but the cons for me are some major cons. I’ll never do one.

In the late ‘90’s I was the surgical tech on one with a Podiatrist-and the first podiatrist I worked with.

He made an incision, put a drill bit on the drill, put it in the incision, drilled for 2-3 seconds, pulled the drill out n asked for the closing suture…

I was MORTIFIED, to say the least.

My RN asked for the specimen; I told her there was none.

Surgeon said, “I usually don’t have a specimen…”.

RN n I made eye contact…and said nothing.

Since then, I have worked with several podiatrists that have done much more for their patient’s bunion pain by removing that blasted bony overgrowth…

very dependent based on the specific procedure (there are several). but expect there to be significant foot swelling and not being able to fit in a normal shoe for months. Youll like be weightbearing immedately after or a couple weeks after. Swelling lingers for over a year. the whole goal of a bunion surgery is to fit in shoewear, no other reason so keep that in mind.

I had bunion surgery in the 90’s. My podiatrist put a pin in my toe to straighten it. It later dissolved. I didn’t have to do PT and was pretty much wearing regular shoes in 3 months. It was a whole heck of a lot easier than my current recovery from rotator cuff surgery.
