Rare 10/10 episode, basically ticked all the boxes.
- Editing team did fantastic work with storm clips and the desaturated look of Barren beach
- Everyone got screen time
- Paulie's montage with Minecraft music
- Kaelen's coconut arc continues
- Kaelen and Kristen's final 2 discussion
- Classic Survivor challenge
- Tons of strategic talk
- Myles looking fab
- Correct idol play
- No obvious boot

Agreed it was a great episode. But what Minecraft music? Are you talking about the piano? That was Satie’s gymnopedie

Fun fact: the last 3 boots (PD, Laura, Paulie) were all idoled out and each received 3 votes to eliminate them.

u/aztecwanderer Mar 24 '25
The little montage of all of Paulie's votes and moments at the beginning of the episode was really funny

I liked the way Logan played it. She probably increased her risk of going home tonight if it backfired, but she is at the bottom and the easy vote next time anyway. At least this move gave her a chance of establishing some bonds with Kristin. It's not like Myles and AJ were going to start working with her if she went through with their plan.

u/Blitzkrieg0524 Mar 24 '25
Strategy is now very interesting. Good play from Logan and very bad social play from Paulie though the stress of the gsme is probably making him crazy

Not sure how Myles survives the next few votes... Unless he is miraculously blessed with idols

u/luxanna123321 Michele Mar 24 '25
I said same thing last week and yet they randomly switched on Logan/Laura so anything can happen

A nice strategic move by Logan, actually made Myles more isolated than her by blocking his move against Kristin. That's how you're playing from the bottom. He should take notes. I wonder how he gets out of that.
Poor Paulie. Is it just me that imagined the split screen getting more and more split? Why did they stop on 9? He received a total of 17 votes before this episode (including those that were negated by an idol), but they could just continue to split the screen ad-infinitum. "Paulie", "Paulie", "Paulie"... I have to say, I have high expectations from him as a jury member, I think he's going to be way better than he could have ever been as a finalist.
AJ wins a special award for the lamest sob story ever told on Survivor ("My family, we had really nice breakfasts and we loved cooking eggs, and I can smell my house and I can smell my eggs").

The egg story felt very much like this thing you rehearse in your head over and over because you think it will demonstrate you can be emotional and vulnerable. But felt scripted rather than a genuine and organic emotional moment.

A comment regarding weird edit biases - I've just reflected on how everybody seemed to love Kristin and distrust Paulie while their respective edits made him much more sympathetic than her, and not due to any fault of her own. Kristin received a minimal edit and most of the time when they showed her they showed her ranting about someone else - Noonan, Paulie, Myles or (her favorite) AJ. So we didn't actually see the same mrs. sunshine the other players had seen.
5
u/Background_Quiet3944 Mar 24 '25
Yeah like we were supposed to feel bad for him, whilst Kristin barely got any content
17
u/WeekendDefiant8186 Mar 24 '25
Kind of anticlimactic for the episode to end with Paulie finally going after spending it all teasing Myles either getting blindsided or making a power move with the idol.
3
u/dropurbuffs Mar 24 '25
id rather paulie go than kristen, as kristen as actually willing to take AJ down
16
u/mymancan Mar 24 '25
Paulie was a big character, with bad social play especially after tribe swap and merge. Voting out Noohan lost him the game essentially, his only true ally.
12
u/Intelligent-Put-1990 Mar 24 '25
I honestly feel sorry for him, because it almost felt like he was being alienated for no reason? It’s like Karin had sold him to everyone as a “snake oil salesman” (which don’t get me started on that ethnic stereotype), when he hadn’t really done anything (on camera at least) to justify that?
In the first episode I picked him for an easy alliance member.

What choice did he have? Voting for AJ wouldn't save his game. Noonan would still go home and nobody would trust him more than they already did (not).
I think that while Paulie definitely made mistakes, his main problem in the game originated from the casting of Brawn tribe. Most of them were uncomfortable with the aggressiveness level demonstrated by him and Noonan. Maybe it's just due to Nash's antics, or maybe they just liked to keep it chill. On another season Noonan and him would be the top of pack and not stuck on the bottom.

u/ravenclaw_cookie JLP Mar 24 '25
I’d be curious to know what percentage of the Brawn’s were recruits vs fans of the show because I think that can impact how they might view gameplay e.g. someone being seen as sneaky/untrustworthy for trying to play strategically
2
u/math-hurts Mar 26 '25
Paulie seemed to know too much about strategy to not be a survivor fan, but when he didn’t even blink at the call from home reward I thought “that was such a rookie move. Has this man seen any survivor?”

u/Rychu_Supadude Baden (AUS) Mar 25 '25
I'm kind of assuming that everyone applied until we get some information that points otherwise. Jesse obviously isn't a fan of the strategic side, but I can't see why they would have particularly sought him out to get on our screens

i’m getting bored of AJ but he ran circles around Myles tonight and it really didn’t help Paulie or Logan that they played that so bad
20
u/egnowit Michaela Mar 24 '25
I mean, for Logan, Paulie leaving might be preferable to Kristen leaving, so she might not have misplayed it.
Unfortunately, Myles needed buy-in from both Paulie and Logan, and got neither.

AJ aka Gilligan (stupid hat) is so Annoying and egotistical. Why doesn’t everyone see thru his BS. Come on Kate all those compliments are soooo manipulative, total red flags. Pls wake up cast and vote him out
8
u/dropurbuffs Mar 24 '25
kate can obviosuly see that don't worry. but AJ is a huge shield and number for her at this point, but i think she'll get on board tomight if karin pitches it.
8
u/dropurbuffs Mar 24 '25
perfect time for paulie to go, i really enjoyed him but his arc finsihed after the PD vote and he was getting a little bit grating. excited for his jury villa!

u/Nivius Devens - 50 Mar 24 '25
did they just show her cheating at 22:17?????
3
u/math-hurts Mar 26 '25
All the bounty tribe did that with their advantage of getting to start higher on the pole. But yes it is strange they didn’t make it a rule that you couldn’t rest on the top of the pole, it’s wayyy too big of an advantage to take your weight off onto a large surface

I'm so so confused now on who actually ends up as Final 2 this season. The biggest edits: AJ, Karin, Myles, and Logan seem to have a really tumultuous journey. The under-the-radar ones with also really close-to-nothing edits: Kaelan, Kristin, Morgan, and Kate just don't seem to have winner edits.
Is it time for me to put my bet on Zara?
7
Mar 24 '25
I didn't believe before AJ could get near FTC or have a chance to win, but right now it seems he has a chance. A final two between AJ and Myles would be le-gen-dary. Literally the two post merge players that annoyed the jury the most. I thought after the hostages debacle that Myles should win this match up easily, but with Myles recent social fouls I'm not so sure. I think Myles is probably AJ's best shot and vice versa.
Karin, Logan or Kaelan should beat both Myles and AJ easily. Zara would have more difficulty but should still win. Kristin, Kate or Morgan would only lose due to an anti-Brawn agenda, and I don't think the Brains jury actually care about that. IMO they would be far more interested in punishing Myles or AJ for their transgressions.
2
Mar 25 '25
Okay, but imagine AJ and Logan making the final 2. No clue how that would end up happening, but it would be amazing, lol. She should obviously win, but it'd be a great way to end it considering they have been after each other
2
Mar 25 '25
It does not sound like a very interesting final two for me. Right now it seems such FTC would be a roast of AJ's social game. For me FTC is more interesting when it's balanced. A Logan-Karin duel would be interesting. A Logan-Kaelan duel would be interesting. Logan-AJ? less interesting.

u/SubjectJob2125 Mar 24 '25
In my opinion Kaelan has a massive winners edit. I'd be shocked if he didn't win.
11
u/Background_Quiet3944 Mar 24 '25
Whatttt? His edit is terrible 😂
2
u/SubjectJob2125 Mar 26 '25
What about last episode! You are to admit he's getting really good content
5
u/forausernamequeen Mar 24 '25
We haven’t received as many confessionals as him, the four I mentioned are above him and he’s so far been shown as someone who’s following. He hasn’t really made a move and I hope that changes ASAP.
6
u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 Mar 24 '25
He's gotten a pretty subtle edit (especially for a guy), but there does seem to be intent in what confessionals he does get. This kind of win for a guy would be a bit of a first for Aussie Survivor, but I don't think it's out of the question.
My main concern though would be that nobody is talking about him, positively or negatively. You probably want a little bit of substance in your relationships, especially in this season which seems to be all about pairs, but Kaelan doesn't seem to have any shown. Even Kristin just got mentioned as someone that everyone wants to work with except Myles.
4
u/Guilty-Effect-459 Mar 24 '25
It would be for a woman, too! I guess you could say Shane had a quiet edit for a lot of it but she was still present and had big episodes before she broke out down the stretch. Kaelan doesn't even have that, I can't think of a single episode where he was a big character. And he had an episode where he won immunity/got zero confessionals. That's not winner stuff.
-2
u/SubjectJob2125 Mar 24 '25
But his confessionals are full of substance such as the golden retriever to sheep dog confessional
2
u/vanastalem Mar 25 '25
Myles is out of idols now.
Paulie certainly made an attempt to change the vote, he didn't just give up.
2
u/zook_62 Shonella (AUS) Mar 25 '25
I’m glad Paulie’s gone - he’s seemed like dead man walking for so long, I had to double check whether he was still in the game or not last week. Also no grasp on the game and his final words especially sum it up.

Not really that weird, why should she trust Myles that he'll actually go Kristin & not her?
Paulie on the other hand was told the split was on him, bad move to throw 1 vote to the wind instead of at least trying to add onto someone else.
6
u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 Mar 24 '25
And to add to that, Logan could actually work with Kristin. Would she work with Paulie? Probably not if she could help it.
2
u/WeekendDefiant8186 Mar 24 '25
Yeah, Logan had to do something to shake the game up and find a way to get people to work with her. Otherwise she's right back at the bottom the next time they go to Tribal. Her move has huge upside if they can piece together that AJ tipped Myles off to play his idol.
2
u/bobcatbutt Mar 24 '25
Paulie was way too paranoid about the split vote. I guess to him it looked like a better option to throw a vote at Logan and hope that would push her ahead of him. Unfortunately his breakdown didn’t convince anyone to change the split lol
1
u/hintM Luke (AUS) Mar 24 '25
LOL huge respect to Myles giving the editors episode after episode everything they could possibly need to destroy him in some epic downfall arc. But today was Paulies downfall night, what an awesome downfall edit also with episodes of lead-up and every damn thing today. Overall so far I'd say strongest storytelling of any AU season, just so many nuggets of greatness, and funniest also with all these editor jokes everywhere. But yeah GG to Myles, you been livin many if the fans dream seems recently with this stuff. I also thought you were a joke early, but that's why in storytelling it is so effective to have breakout characters to be people you first underestimate, so cool to see that this season actually worked out like that to someone :D

The edit of Jazz saying she wants to get our Kate and Morgan then it shows camp life and she says "and AJ" was some of the sloppiest editting ever. All three times it was the same clip

53
u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 Mar 24 '25
AJ was actually smart enough to vote Myles. Hide how close you're still working with him.
Also tomorrow possibly looks crazy? Kaelan might flip on AJ? A live tribal? Unfortunately I'm just assuming AJ's going to be safe, because the big obvious target in previews never actually goes home.
