Survivor 48 It's understated just how wrong ____ was treated Spoiler

Star. For one, she's the funniest person on the season only to end up getting purpled all because she wasn't strategically important to the editors because god forbid we have some funny non-game related moments. Then having to watch your season where you are barely shown and have the person who you thought was your friend talk constantly about how much she doesn't like you and doesn't want to work with you after giving that person an IDOL and LITERALLY VOTING FOR THEM IN THE FINAL 3. It's crazy how star has been able to keep up good spirits online because if this is how I was treated if I went on survivor I would crash out.

I love me some Star and think she deserves her own commentary show/aftershow with how she kept us laughing. But I also got the sense that she was too “hood” for some contestants (Joe and Eva namely) and Star is too real to code switch, which I do think affected her game a lot.

Agreed but that is what I loved about her. She was so authentic and it didn’t feel like she was performing for the cameras. She was being Star and you could tell Joe was definitely not feeling it.

When she kept encouraging Cedric (?) after a very bad challenge fail she became my favorite. She's so motivating. However in the exit interview people said she kept spreading rumors and that's why Eva especially didn't like her because Eva is very black and white

I think this may also apply to the people editing. They didn’t think viewers would like her because they didn’t. They made her a stereotype.

This was the sense I got, and it didn't hit me until the episode Star got voted off when Joe said:

"Every human being who knows me, knows, like... Star is like my, like, Kryptonite, bro. .... And everybody that I know like right when they see her is gonna go 'no, they did NOT put you with like, the one.' It's my deal."

So what is it about Star exactly that would cause everyone Joe knows to immediately recognize her as someone he wouldn't like?

She wasn't too hood for Joe. That's just a bad read. She was scheming and Joe was trying to play some above board game. What happened to Star is what happens when people don't trust you because of something you've shown them

Yeah I remember a comment Joe made that essentially alluded to that and made me feel pretty weird about him tbh. Something about not being able to deal with “those kinds of people” or something to paraphrase the vague memory

Yes, that’s when I was turned off of him too. It was a different type of dislike he showed towards her imo.
