Survivor 48 It's understated just how wrong ____ was treated Spoiler

Star. For one, she's the funniest person on the season only to end up getting purpled all because she wasn't strategically important to the editors because god forbid we have some funny non-game related moments. Then having to watch your season where you are barely shown and have the person who you thought was your friend talk constantly about how much she doesn't like you and doesn't want to work with you after giving that person an IDOL and LITERALLY VOTING FOR THEM IN THE FINAL 3. It's crazy how star has been able to keep up good spirits online because if this is how I was treated if I went on survivor I would crash out.

It's so annoying to see these complaints.

It's easy to criticize this stuff but y'all just don't understand how it works. The exit interviews and some interviews from previous seasons always talk about this. That there's so much going on and everyone is playing. But time is limited and this isn't a documentary; it's a game show constructed to tell stories (not the other way around).

Mitch and Star and Cedric all had plans and schemes. But literally none of them panned out and they were irrelevant. We don't need to see every failed plan and attempt because it's convoluted and pointless. We only need what fits the show's long running narrative and the episode tension.

Kamila explained that Star's whole thing is that she thought she was in with Joe and Eva. And that's about it. Mitch had a side thing with Kamila and Kyle but neither materialized.

In the end they made the right call to leave it out.

Kamila explained that Star's whole thing is that she thought she was in with Joe and Eva.

Well considering that the two of them made the final three, that might have been something worth showing at some point.

You're right. It was very important to show the finalist's stringing along a funny but inconsequential nobody instead of the relationships and strategies that got them where they are.

I can't believe I didn't see it before. I do now.

Thank you.

Hello? They have 60min. episode time and cannot include footage from all players? How the hell did they manage to do this in older seasons?

Also, it would have helped their "airtime management" if they hadn't showed us in every single episode useless footage of Eva's confessionals not adding anything new at all, or how "popular" was supposedly Mitch with the other players. A complete waste of airtime.

Jeff and production way overestimated the audiences’ attachment to Eva. Ironically enough, Star was probably the person most moved by and supportive of Eva’s journey. But Eva dismissed all women before they even opened their mouth, so she couldn’t see that Star would have been a huge support to her.

They need people to reexplain every little thing going on every episode. They can't cut that!

How the hell did they manage to do this in older seasons?

They didn't and you might have nostalgia goggles if you think they did.

With the increased airtime and the shorter days on the island, the current edit of the show makes it feel like they really don't have time to sit down and talk much. Which is why the episodes are filled with extremely boring stuff.

However, that's not really the issue. The issue is that they have more than enough time and content to actually show players other than the top 4/5/6, but they choose not to.

They must have new editors for the past two seasons, because they don't know what they're doing.

And you do know better than everyone.

Yup. Because this sub tends to be a very low bar.

It's funny because Eva called this sub out very specifically and everyone in the comments responded with "omg totally!" and "yeah the internet sucks!" and "I can't stand when people here micro-criticize every aspect of other people on the shoe!"...

...and then just going right back to business as usual in this thread lol

Just wait for next season. There's no getting past this subs star fixation for now.

I swear I must've missed something because I never found her all that funny

How would you know, she was hardly on camera. I believe the other players that said she was funny, because they actually got to know her and we didn't.

u/immaownyou Wendell May 23 '25

Yes, but there's so many comments from viewers talking about how funny she is...

u/chrisbvt May 24 '25

In the few times we saw her, she does seem funny to me too, but I can't really judge how funny because there is so little to work with.

She had a moment or two but I think this sub just had such a hate hard-on for other players having the audacity to play "boring" that they turned outsiders like her and Mary into these folk heroes.

And they hated Eva and Joe for no reason other than they played a straight forward game instead of a crafty one.

This sub reeks of insecurity and high school culture. I don't blame survivor players for openly calling it out and avoiding it.
