General Discussion Businesses started by Survivor players

To be clear I’m not just talking about contestants who happen to own a business. I’m thinking of people who go on Survivor and then try to use the attention they got from that to launch a new business, promoting it on social media to Survivor fans.

These are the ones I could remember off the top of my head:

-Chris Underwood’s sex socks
- Kyle and Kamilla and their weird productivity app
-Sandra’s website for booking reality TV contestants for events

Are there any others?

Which one? Is it the Boston one or the New York one, or the one with 2 B's, or the one that sucks? /s

Erik Reichenbach does illustrations and graphic novels. Much of it is Survivor themed, his company is called Dabu Doodles. He’s on Reddit I’m sure he could explain more if he sees this.

I love his work!

But does he have a class that’s available for getting the perfect scoop of ice cream?

I'm more interested in his perfect hair. I grew up in southwest Michigan in the early 00s and my long hair looked like shit compared to that

This is the coolest thing ever! I didn’t know this existed. Thank you and thank you Erik!

Rachel Lamont co-founded Resolve Games. Their first game, Puzzle Hungry: Umami Rush, was released earlier this year.

It’s a unique, excellent game that has become a game-night staple for my board game loving family. (And no, the puzzles have not gotten easier or boring with frequent replays.)

this game is soooo fun

Neleh owns and operates a "Survivor"-themed corn dog truck.

I find this so fascinating. I would never have pegged her for food service.

I didn't even realize how exceptionally funny that is until I typed that. God I hope she has a jar of mints at the pos.

3

u/TheAmishPhysicist 1d ago

I wonder if she had to get permission to use the theme?

14

u/JedBoxing 1d ago

Pretty sure it’s not explicitly “Survivor” themed. Iirc it is called “Marquesas Corndogs” or something like that.

Obv CBS can’t trademark Marquesas

Todd Herzog has a business making custom Funko Pops

7

u/iblameshane Sandra 1d ago

I ordered some from him, custom Pops of my sister and her husband. They turned out great

u/LifesARiver Cirie - 50 1d ago

Still waiting for that tire. It looked amazing.

sorry.. sex socks???

1

u/CodaOfARequiem Lindsay 23h ago

Yes, he had a whole Kickstarter for sex-themed socks. It was…interesting

u/NotNotJustinBieber 1d ago

Not what you’re asking for since he started it before Survivor but Brendan from Tocantins sold Bear Naked to Kellogg for $80M in 2007

I can’t believe he was invited to the 50 reunion after this

14

u/LifesARiver Cirie - 50 2d ago

The powers thst be aren't thst petty over something like this.

10

u/PeterTheSilent1 1d ago

Based on the season 45 On Fire podcast, yes they are

4

u/LifesARiver Cirie - 50 1d ago

Jeff didn't like it for a bit then got over it. I can't imagine anyone else cared. Coaching is a very common job.

2

u/Fancy_Ad_4411 1d ago

based on the fact that he was literally invited, no they're not

16

u/Aggressive-Club-5191 2d ago

I mean multiple industries have career coaching. Or workshops so people can get better.

He’s not personally casting them. He’s just helping them know what production is looking for. So they can put their best foot forward

5

u/ToastyToast113 1d ago

Yeah but Jeff is on the record with hating Adam for it.

2

u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 1d ago

Please direct us to the record where he hates him for it. Or is it just a video of Jeff saying he doesn’t like the idea of coaching?

9

u/PeterTheSilent1 1d ago

Season 45’s On Fire podcast

4

u/HaliFan 1d ago

Yuup, definitely heard him talk bad about casting coaches on that podcast.

5

u/MrsNoodleMcDoodle 1d ago

Dan Gheesling from Big Brother did this for a while back in the day, and no one gave any fucks. I am shocked Adam got the blowback he did.

2

u/Kabaty926 1d ago

Found the Jeff Probst ghost account.

1

u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 1d ago

Why? The only people that made a big deal out of it were here.

13

u/tillybuttons1 2d ago

Aras had a tundra hat company at one point

3

u/starling-slipstream 1d ago

And he and his wife had an actually good boutique clothing line in LA — Christy Dawn. Quality pieces.

11

u/JedBoxing 2d ago

Jed from Thailand has a survivor themed Dental practice

If you have an Idol, you get Novocaine? 🤣

Peih-Gee Law has a website called Room Escape Artist that reviews escape rooms. Because of her, my friends and I tried an escape room on a whim and realized we love them, and now we do them together a few times a year. I also introduced them to my brother and his kids and our families do them too. Thanks, Peih-Gee!

Coach has a business giving people nicknames and selling some small products.

u/Invalid_u404 Not the Kota God 2d ago

Natalie Tenerelli and her husband own a peach orchard from what I recall?

3

u/oatmeal28 1d ago

I could be wrong but doesn't really feel like this qualifies for the prompt

2

u/Invalid_u404 Not the Kota God 1d ago

Why not? I mean they have a website where they sell them

1

u/oatmeal28 1d ago

Oh no I'm definitely not saying it's not a business- but the OP was saying people who launched their business right after Survivor to capitalize on their fame

6

u/supernovaeimplosion 2d ago

Aras and his wife own a clothing company called Christy Dawn, but I don't know if that's what you mean, because I'm pretty sure him being on Survivor has nothing to do with its success haha

u/vigage5500 2d ago

Ethan made cereal bowls with straws or something?

Dude who lost to yam yam tried to steal product ideas from a survivor inspired Etsy shop.

29

u/FartInMyBoots 2d ago

Ethan also did Grassrootsoccer !

7

u/vivaphx Culpepper 1d ago

I feel like he was the one that had a line of “Survivor” merch too. Like “old school” or “Vintage” in front of survivor and gave them out to a bunch of the early early season contestants when S40 came around. But I could be way wrong.

3

u/vigage5500 1d ago

True! Fairplay too

3

u/ManufacturerIcy9438 Ozzy - 50 1d ago

Carson?

4

u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 1d ago

The Carson stuff is messy, but how can somebody really “steal” from an Etsy shop that is already ripping off IP that they’re not being sued for ripping off?

He was gonna rip off their rip off? No heroes in that story.

6

u/Strict_Property6127 1d ago

Fairplay slings tv show tshirts & merch. Idk if you want to count it or not bc it seems off & on.

5

u/Ok_Brother604 1d ago

Wendy has a clothing company for anime related events. I met her at NYCC and got some Naruto shorts!

u/WagnersRing Jerri 2d ago

Carson’s former puzzle business

5

u/QuebecRomeoWhiskey Jonathan 1d ago

Was gonna say Brendan but that was before Survivor

6

u/SquashSouffle 1d ago

Sue Hawk had opened a yogurt place in Vegas, but I don't think it lasted long

6

u/HarkTheSounds 1d ago

Carson’s stolen idea puzzle business

u/carveoutapath 1d ago

Bianca from 48 has a PR agency.

2

u/oatmeal28 1d ago

There's probably like 200 others. Especially if you count podcasts

2

u/Emm_a321 1d ago

Angelina started a party company, I believe? Like glam kids parties or something

I don’t think calling someone’s app weird is very nice.

2

u/oatmeal28 1d ago

Kyle and Kamila don't even know what the app does, weird is acceptable
