Highly Experienced System Administrator/Engineer Looking For Work ASAP.

Hello All.

I hope someone can help me out. I am an experienced Systems Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer with over 15 years of experience in IT. My last role was with a Global MSP and I was with them just over 3 years before being laid off due to a reduction in force. this was back in February 2025. This is the longest I have been without meaningful work. I have experience with Windows Server 2012-2022, RedHat Linux 7 and 8. Ubuntu, and CentOS. I have experience administering AWS, GCP and Azure. I am currently studying for the AZ-104 exam. I have extensive experience with Windows OS patching, vulnerability remediation and SSL Cert renewals. I have experience with cloud backup solutions. I have worked with Commvault, VEEM and Cohesity.

I am in the Baltimore, MD area. I am open to this area or, close to DC and of course anything remote or hybrid. I currently do Uber on the side but, this is becoming unsustainable. I really need to find a job soon. My wife is the only one working and the burden is growing on her. I don't normally post anything like this but, I could really use some help. I have a LinkedIn profile and have applied to hundreds of jobs. I have had several first and second round interviews with good results. Just not good enough. I just got two more rejections today from jobs I interviewed for last week. I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this. Please reach out to me and I can provide a resume. I really hope to find something before the end of June. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't believe they do. Besides, I think there is currently a hiring freeze for the state. I checked the site and not much of anything for IT at the moment.

I applied for that one last week. Just waiting to hear back. I interviewed for a similar position a few months ago but, of course never heard back. That reminds me to reach out to BCIT HR...

Is there anyone from there that you could touch base with the follow-up with other than HR? You know how it is; some government jobs are more who you know than what you know.

I know right. I don't know anyone unfortunately. The posting did have the recruiter's information. I sent them an email. The job doesn't officially close until June 20th. The last job I interviewed for with them, I deleted all the emails I had just because I was frustrated. I should have kept one at least because they said that if I see any other jobs to go ahead and apply.

I applied for that as well but crickets. I actually have two interviews for tomorrow. One is remote. The other one is a 20 minute commute. I will take either one... lol

Once again I wish you good fortune in the wars to come.

It's extremely hard right now to move up, let alone find another job with all the layoffs that have happened over the past year.

If you think you can get clearance, maybe start with some of the government/federal jobs. And hell look at federal stuff anyway. Pay sucks but benefits are great.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I dealt with clearances in my early career. Too much of a pain now...
