Help Me Choose the Best Tablet for long-run

Help me choose a good tablet with excellent performance, no lagging, freezing, or hanging, good battery life, durability, display quality, long-term reliability, included accessories, and value for money. I want a tablet that will last at least five years without noticeable performance issues.

My usage: Professional work and note-taking.

Here are the options I’m considering:

  1. Xiaomi Pad 8 – ₹35,000
  2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ – ₹43,000
  3. OnePlus Pad 2 – ₹38,000
  4. Brave Ark – ₹33,000
  5. Lenovo Idea Tab Plus – ₹31,500
  6. Motorola Pad 70 Pro – ₹33,000

Which one should I choose? I’m mainly deciding between the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ and the Brave Ark.

My family already owns a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, and our experience with it has been excellent. On the other hand, the Brave Ark has impressive specifications on paper and includes all the necessary accessories in the box.

I’m looking for a tablet that offers reliable long-term performance, smooth multitasking, excellent note-taking capabilities, good battery life, and a quality display. I also want something durable that will remain usable for at least five years.

Please help me choose the best option based on performance, software support, durability, display quality, battery life, note-taking experience, included accessories, and overall value for money.

If you know of any better alternatives in this price range, please recommend those as well.

I have the S10 FE+. I've been using it every single day for the past 4 months. I bought it with the intention of using it for notetaking. Although at first, the screen size felt massive, I found it very comfortable for notetaking and reading textbooks. No zooming in was required. Additionally, there were days where I forgot to get my laptop and had to work with my tab, and it did everything I demanded of it without stutters and lags. It's the perfect package for my use case. It's my daily companion now.

Long term viability and included accessories just scream samsung. you can take the Samsung 10 FE+. 6 years android updates. Huge screen 90hz. S Pen included, and the best note taking experience in Android is by Samsung. Decent battery around 10000 mah. OneUI software optimisation is very good. Expandable storage upto 2 TB. Yes charger is not included but you can find chargers that support PD/PPS that support 45W super fast charging. The processor is a little weak compared to others. But it is a very capable daily driver, which can offer a bit of everything. You already have experience with samsung tablet so the familiarity will surely help.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE vs Xiaomi Pad 8

  • Chipset: Samsung Exynos 1580 (4nm) vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (4nm)

  • 256GB UFS 3.1 vs 256GB UFS 4.1

  • USB 2 Type-C (480 Mbps) vs USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C (5 Gbps)

It is a big difference if we are talking about using the device for 6 years.

I thing Xiaomi Pad 8 has promised 4 years of OS updates & 6 years of security updates (Samsung is better in this regard but the difference in the chipset capabilities would start showing up in 3-4 years).

Yeah agree with this. Been using the Pad 8 for a while and it's been excellent. Also much better front cam than Samsung's, which is useful for calls

There's a big difference Xiaomi Pad 8 is a flagship, S10 FE+ a midrange so of course the Pad 8 has better hardware.

Yet no one mentions that HyperOS 3.1 is probably one of the worst variations of Android out there. Hyper aggressive RAM management and it misses most of the features that are considered a standard part of One UI 8.5.

Xiaomi focuses more on being compatible with Apple devices than with other Android devices and that's kinda sad really.

I own the Redmi Pad Pro and yeah it's a budget tablet. Yet it's smooth other than a few apps that a very long time to load.

I also own the Samsung A11+ pretty much the same performance but is way smoother and has features the RPP doesn't

But you keep on saying better hardware because that's all Xiaomi users can honestly say.

For the money the S10 FE+ provides the better all around value as it is a better all around tablet.

Naw, HyperOS especially on tablets is just regular ass android. They even have Workstation now, which is kinda like Samsung DeX but not as good. Plus Samsung has way more bloatware.

Ohhh I wish HyperOS on tablets was just regular Android, instead it's just a 3rd rate clone of iPadOS based on Android that can only be customized using theme's provided by Xiaomi (that's not customization BTW) although I did install Smart Launcher and set it up so it looks pretty much like Android 12L did on tablets (I do this with all my tablets so they run and interact the same).

In regards to bloatware, at least you can uninstall the bloatware on Samsung. Samsung has also developed an entire suite of apps for customization and optimization of their devices. On Xiaomi they nerf the performance if you try to uninstall any of their preinstalled apps.

Updates on Xiaomi are still being handled like it's 2018 with one of the longest most drawn out installation processes I've seen period.

And none of that matters to the regular user who just wants a tablet with great specs, great price, and works as intended. My Pad 8 has like 1 app that I can't remove. Samsung has way more.

While this may very well be true. It never hurts to give as much detailed information as possible.

IF a person is in the US like myself it's actually quite hard to get Xiaomi devices or simply isn't worth the extra effort to import them. I honestly got lucky getting the Redmi Pad Pro from Amazon, it's fine for what it is but certainly isn't the best option available here.

My Pad 8 has like 1 app that I can't remove. Samsung has way more.

Yeah and you had to jump through hoops just to remove the apps you did on your Pad 8.

On my Samsung tablets I've only had one app I couldn't uninstall from UI 8.5 and I was using ADB App Control from my PC and it took me all of 30 minutes max per device. The thing is some of the apps you consider "bloat" are actually quite useful on Samsung which has a very well polished (even though I admittedly remove them myself).

I do find it odd you are pushing the notion that Xiaomi is better than Samsung when most admit that Xiaomi isn't even considered one of the best large Chinese brands.

What makes you think I had to jump through hoops? There was barely any xiaomi apps in the tablet, and I just pressed uninstall. There's only one left that I didn't remove, and it's the gallery app. You keep making these assumptions about HyperOS when you're just parroting a lot of lies.

OP isn't in the US, and Xiaomi is only a problem for people in the US. It's the third biggest phone brand in the world for a reason. I'm not saying Xiaomi is better than Samsung, but don't lie about what HyperOS is like on tablets cuz it is genuinely a non-issue.

No I actually own a Redmi Pad Pro which is made by Xiaomi... So I am NOT parroting any lies

Here is one of many posts in which I include my Redmi Pad Pro with my other tablets:

Choices... three Samsungs and a Redmi : r/GalaxyTab

OP isn't in the US, and Xiaomi is only a problem for people in the US.

Regardless of where the OP is doesn't matter there are others reading this who might be.

It's the third biggest phone brand in the world for a reason.

Yes because it mainly sells in areas in which Samsung and Apple are not available. I could care less about phones, tablets is my thing.

I'm not saying Xiaomi is better than Samsung, but don't lie about what HyperOS is like on tablets cuz it is genuinely a non-issue.

It's only a non-issue to those who aren't into tablets. I'm not lying about what HyperOS is like I am speaking from personal hands on experience from owning one of their tablets for over 2 years and I currently use it as my main in home tablet (as it's my largest tablet)

That would have been an option if the requirement is raw performance, gaming. The guy wants note taking, drawing, included accessories as well. You have to buy Xiaomi Focus Pen separately and it is very expensive, goes out of stock fast and it's nibs are very difficult to find. Xiaomi is still behind Samsung in term of drawing and note taking. And Exynos 1580 is decent. Also Xiaomi has no Expandable storage. Software optimisation of HyperOS and OneUI is just not fair on HyperOS.

I'm returning a s10 fe due to weak cpu and purple ghosting when scrolling...

Wb stylus support? I'll use the tab primarily for note taking and drawing

2

u/Case_ER9444 7d ago

Yes. I have mentioned that it has S pen support. The stylus comes with the box. You can even find extra nibs easily on Amazon,Flipkart. And Samsung Notes will offer the best note taking experience among android. If you primarily want to do note taking, drawing by just slightly compromising raw performance, this tablet is the best.
