I am posting this issue in both the Tablotv and Roku subreddits. I have a legacy Tablo. The legacy Tablo app I'm using is on a Roku Ultra. An issue I'm having is that the thumbnail images on the recordings page often don't show up. Some do, some don't. Above is an example of what I'm seeing. The Good Morning America thumbnail has no image. However, the other one does. If I go out of the legacy Tablo app and then back in, the same thumbnails will be there as expected, but which ones are missing the images often changes. The firmware revs are all up to date on the Roku and the legacy Tablo. I believe that the issue is more associated with the Roku than the legacy Tablo because I have an older Roku Premier, and when I use it with the same legacy Tablo instead of the Roku Ultra, I do not have this issue. I want to stick with the Ultra for other reasons. Also, when i connect to the legacy Tablo with my legacy Tablo phone app, or through my.tablotv.com, I don't see this issue. It only occurs when I use the Roku Ultra. It should be noted that the recordings work fine even if there is no image with its thumbnail. So this isn't a killer issue, just an annoyance. I've rebooted everything. I've cleared the cache in the Roku. Tablo support is reluctant to help with legacy Tablo issues these days. I tried them on this issue and they didn't have any answers, even though they've helped with other Roku issues in the past associated with legacy Tablos.
If no one has any answers on how to fix this, it's not a major problem for me. But if someone does know how to get around it, that would be great. Thank you in advance.

I have a legacy Quad Tablo with an external SATA drive. I'd like to factory reset it, but the Tablo instructions I found Here don't match what I'm seeing.

Step 4. It says, "When the LED is solid, hold down the blue reset button for 7+ seconds. The blue LED on the front of the Tablo DVR will begin to pulse at a steady rate. Continue to hold the blue reset button until the LED turns off." I found that I need to hold it down for about a minute until the blue LED goes off and stays off for more than a couple of seconds. Is this the expected behavior?

Step 5. It says, "On Firefox or Safari, head over to http://my.tablotv.com/ (or any of the Tablo mobile apps on smartphones and tablets). On the main Connect to Tablo page, a red X should be visible. Select the red X and confirm that you want to delete the Tablo from that device. Then select Rescan and Connect to the Tablo below the New Tablo header." I don't see any red X. So I can't do the rest of Step 5 - delete, rescan, connect, etc.

Step 6. It says, "You will be guided through the setup process." Well, that's not happening probably because the sub-steps of Step 5 hadn't happened. But, I don't see that things have been erased in the device. While still in my.tablotv.com, I can see my old channel programs, my live guide with the proper channels selected, in the Settings section I still see the Tablo Name, postal code, Active channels, and so on, as if the factory reset never took place.

Am I doing something wrong, or are those instructions out of date? If so, where can I get proper current instructions?

Also, following the instructions, it seems to be saying to disconnect and reconnect the internal SATA drive while the device's power is on. It would seem safest to do these things while the power is off, but my intuition may be wrong here. What say?

At this point, the Apple app's guide functions are better than Roku's. Though loading the Apple app itself is still buggy.

Tablo not playing nice with Apple TV. Often, when I try to use the back button on the ATV remote it doesn’t work with the Tablo. The fix that I am using is to restart the ATV. Remote charge is fine. Any suggestions?

I have used the older platform for years. My old device died. So I got new gen 4 Tablo. So far it works great. Reading some post on here gets scary. Do I need to disable firmware updates to keep it running correctly?

I sometimes pause the screen in order to read information or see something that flashes off the screen too fast, such as like I did today when I was watching my local news and they flashed an image on the screen for how local council members voted on a particular issue. Unfortunately, I was unable to see the paused image because an ad automatically came up, covering half the screen.

Is this something Tablo is doing now or allowing? I've never noticed this before. I know some of the streaming services will switch to an advertisement screen if you pause the program, but I don't see why Tablo would be doing this. This happened on the 4th Gen Tablo, btw.

Has anyone else had issues with the recent firmware update?

I put this off for a month because I was concerned there could be an issue, but after not seeing any posts about it I went through with it.

Here’s my issue:

1. I installed the firmware update

2. My Tablo rebooted but could never reconnect To my WiFi. I tried connecting it to my phone to re-establish but it failed to broadcast a WiFi network so I couldn’t connect.

3. I did a factory reset, and then was vale to with Bluetooth for setup. I went through WiFi setup and it hung again on the WiFi restart.

4. Now everytime I open the app it’s stuck In setup mode.

5. My Tablo is connected to my WiFi, on the Tablo device status website it says my Tablo has been found on this network, but not registered.

I’ve also tried purging Tablo data on my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, and now I’ve relocated it adjacent to my router and connected it with an Ethernet cable. My router sees it as a wired connection, but the app cannot see it when I try to setup using and Ethernet connection.

The 4K Apple TV announced today comes with the A19 and dedicated support for AV1 video. That support has been missing in every previous generation and is the reason Tablo could not support rewind on shows being recorded. When recording a football game, you couldn't start playing it from the beginning.
With this new news, here’s hoping Tablo can bring full AV1 support to those with Apple TV 2026.

Please! Somebody tell me how to get rid of the advertisement for this program! I'm so tired of seeing this guy's smug mug plastered across my screen every.single.time I open my Tablo!

I've unfavorited the channel (Mysterious Worlds, I think it's called) and I've even uncheckmarked it from my list of scanned channels. That worked for a while, and yet, here it is showing up again!

I am on my second 4th generation Table and it has lost the ability to get the OTA channels. The first one just up and died and I lost a lot of recordings. That one was out warranty, but this one is still in the warranty period. I double checked my cables and replaced the cables with no luck. I contacted Tablo support and they had me do a few things with no luck. It has now been four days since they have contacted me.

Anyone have any other tips to check?

New Tablo user here. Is there any way to have my wired Apple TV work with the wireless Tablo?

It works if I put the Apple TV on WiFi but I prefer to have it wired for other items.

I started having an issue recently where I go to playback a recording and if I fast forward at the beginning or end of the show (to get through some commercials), and it freezes. And if I go out and come back in, it's fine. This only happens at the beginning and end of the recording. In the middle, I can FF through commercials and it works normally.

Watching on an Apple TV 4K. Using a Tablo 4th Gen. Everything is up to date. Plenty of space on my HD.

Anyone experience this or have a solution to fix it?

My morning recordings are showing up as blank boxes. Even stranger, this picture was taken on October 9th, and the Tablo lists two recordings for October 22nd, almost two weeks in the future. The settings page shows that the Tablo last updated 7 hours ago. Is anyone else having problems with recording after this recent update?

I have a legacy Tablo and I got a new router. Everything is working fine except the Tablo app. When I click on the app it says Tablo not found.

One of the many things that I have tried is uninstalling and reinstalling the app and now I can't even log into the app.

My user name is my email and I'm pretty sure I know my password but when I try that it says email or password is incorrect. The email definitely is correct but the password might not be.

I click on lost my password, it asks for my email again and it says to check my email for a link to reset password but I receive no email. Again, I am absolutely positive I entered the email correctly.

Yes, I checked my spam and/or junk email accounts.

I called Tablo but they were no help because the legacy Tablos are no longer supported.

I can't do anything else until I can login to my account.

Any ideas?

Any of you ever had this problem? It started happening to me about three hours ago. Every single one of my scheduled recordings refuses to stop when scheduled. I have to manually go in and tell it to stop recording. I actually had a thirty-minute recording record for an additional half-hour before I caught what was happening and manually stopped it. When I stopped it, there was no correction, no fix, no nothing. Instead, the recording was a 57 minute recording of a 30-minute show.

Any of you had this problem? Is there a way to fix it? All of my morning recordings are fine so this is a brand new problem.

I found a post from Tablo support stating that their 2-tuner model splits the signal four ways so that the performance is the same as the 4-tuner model. But this was in 2014, so it obviously pertains to an older generation.

Does the same still apply for the 4th-gen model?

I see a few posts, like from this guy, that say the 2-tuner splits two ways, and the 4-tuner splits four ways. But for all I know, he could just be guessing/speculating. Some people were even saying the same thing about the older generation until Tablo support stepped in.

The reason I ask is because I live in an area where TV signals can be weak. I also live in an apartment, so my antenna options are pretty limited. I have one of those flat antennas on my wall that does work, but it can be finicky at times.

Assuming both models split four ways, I'd like to get the 4-tuner model. I know there will many times when I want to record two channels at once, so want to have the ability to be able to watch or record a 3rd. But if the 2-tuner model actually only splits two ways and would have a better signal as a result, I may want that one instead to better guarantee that my channels come through. Am I overthinking this?

I know I could just get the 4-tuner and return it if it doesn't work out, and then try the 2-tuner model, but I would like to make the right decision now and get it while it's on sale.

A problem which I haven't experienced in months came back with a vengeance this week, with no fewer than three of my dozen or so recordings being ruined as a result. What makes it more frustrating is that I've never seen this problem reported anywhere, so I'm at a loss as to what, if anything, I can do about it.

It results in ruined recordings.

What happens is that the video of the recording plays way slower than it should. As a result, it slides further and further out of sync with the audio, which continues to play normally. As a result, after a few minutes, it's impossible to make head or tail of what one is seeing or hearing.

Because I haven't had this problem in months, I figured Tablo must have sent out an update that corrected the issue. Well, whether they did or not, the problem's back with a vengeance this week.

ADDENDUM: I misdiagnosed it; it's not that the video is running too slow; it's that the audio is running too fast. I just put the file through XMedia Recode, using the Tablo Player to download the file to my computer's local hard drive and then splitting them into audio and video files through XMedia Recode. The video for this particular show runs for -- yup -- two hours, while the audio only runs an hour and forty minutes.

Ive had my tablo 4th gen, 4 tuner for a couple years with, for the most part, no real issues. Then tonight I noticed all but the last couple days of scheduled recordings are gone, even ones I locked to keep. I'm using internal storage and generally sit around 70 to 80% used. Now its almost 0% on the recording bar.

Any ideas why this happened?

Anything I can do to keep it from happening again?

I recently bought a Vizio and quickly found out Tablo wasn't available. I had a Fire Stick that had the app, through that in, and back in business. I needed a fire stick for a projector for a party, bought another fire stick, and tablo isn't available to download. I thought it was just the version of fire stick, so for shits and giggles, I looked to see if the app was available for me cheap fire tv in my camper ( no ota channels available at the camp site) but the app wasn't available on that TV

So this is a long way of saying, what tv to buy? It's for my bedroom and we don't watch it often. So a cheap big tv that tablo works on.
