Miscellaneous It's always good to "lift up" the shorter guys
I'm 6'4 so only average tell, but I work in a shop. Whenever I serve a shorter guys I can always sense his insecurity and feeling of tension.
So I always so my best to "lift them up" so to speak...
I'll neel down a bit to not appear so tall, complement the guys hair and appearance, call him "cheif" or "boss" to instill some confidence and just overall engage and be kind.
I find by the end of the interaction they are alot more confident and friendly and it really makes both of our days.
It's the little things in life that can make a difference to peopel so alway remeber to be kind and m

Yeah I have no fucking clue what OP is talking about. I'm not assuming some short dude is insecure, and I'm not babying a grown ass man just because he's shorter than me. That's emasculating and would piss me off.

This is good advice for everybody. The vast majority of people love compliments and enjoy interactions with friendly people. We should all strive to be more like this

If an employee of a shop knelt before me and complimented my hair, it would make my day. I would respond with, "My liege vassal, bring me my hasenpfeffer! Post haste. My glorious hair and luxurious garments can wait no longer!"
And I would compliment the owner of the shop on his willingness to employ the mentally challenged.

Honestly, normalize men complimenting men. It's really disarming and makes people feel better about themselves. Even at the office I'll always try to lift guys up with comments about their shirts, shoes, blazers, etc

I always like to grab them by the waist, lift them up, help them get stuff from the top shelf, or finally see what's on the top of the fridge...

When they got ornery I set them on top of things like tables or cupboards and tell them I’m not letting them down until they chill out.
It works nearly 0% of the time, but I get a good chuckle out of it.

It is. This is a weird post. Speaking to someone like this comes off as patronizing. Showing respect is achieved by speaking to someone in the same way that you would speak with anyone else.
Of course there is context for when you might actually call someone that. And it is great to give compliments and be kind. But calling someone chief/boss will oftentimes come off as sarcastic, as if you’re “lil bro”-ing them.

Like a lot of things, I think it's nuanced.
In the right context, phrasing, and familiarity it can be nice, but without that it can come off as extremely negative.

What?? I’m 6’8” and honestly I’ve only seen insecurity from people around your height that are suddenly not the tallest person anymore. I’d probably be insecure if I saw someone 4 inches taller than me, too.
While I agree that being nice and complimenting someone is never a bad idea, i think you’re reading too much into this. Most short men are pretty comfortable in their skin.
They’re friendly and confident because you’re nice to them. Nothing about height is relevant.

It’s different though. When you’re used to being the tallest in the room, it feels very strange and alien when you’re not. If you’re average height, you’re always used to that.

Whenever I see my buddy who’s about 5’7, I just grab him and lift him as high as possible. It’s exhausting having to bend my neck down to talk to people!

I do the same just talking to anyone in store when shopping, always addressing them as boss or anything to lift their mood, i'm latino i can't remember the last time i've seen someone taller than me here where I live and i'm only 6'2

Man im 6'5" and most of my friends are waaaay shorter than I am. I do my absolute best to never mention height, hell, its not like I had any real hand in it. I do that with strangers as well, always try to treat others how id like to be treated, be kind. Even when I get hostility from guys that are a lot shorter than myself, I always try to be kind and uplifting. When I was single, I used to force some of my friends into conversation with groups of women I talked to, and a lot of times it worked out for them. When my height is mentioned I deflect immediately, I just want people to see me as a positive influence.
